So Wednesday night I went to this huge show in Seattle: Grouplove, Two Door Cinema Club, Young the Giant, Foster the People, Cage the Elephant, Death Cab for Cutie, and Mumford and Sons all played full sets in a row (and in that order). It was ridiculous epic, particularly this song:

Check out the remix they add on at the 3 or so minutes. :awes:

I'm nice to people, not just girls, all the time (i.e. open doors, talk politely) particularly my friends. Whether they're male or female I do nice things for friends when I get the chance, but not excessively. Being nice isn't the same as being a "nice guy." People who describe themselves as nice guys aren't actually nice. They're fucking douchebags almost as much as the douchebags.

Just be normal. If you see a girl you like get to know her and then ask her out for coffee or something. I don't really date a lot of people or the whole cold approach/meeting people at bars/whatever. If there's a girl I get to know and I like I ask her out and go from there. It's really not complicated, guys...

            Capisce?
You gotta know when to be hard headed though, but for the most part this is true. Women want someone to listen to them. You figure that out and it's all good. They don't like guys who try and try and try to impress them. Listen to them, make them laugh, and be genially nice unless you need to be stern and little hard headed; don't let one walk over you.

Fuck the VGAs. I was "live" Tweeting the new award winners and trailers on our Twitter but after they pulled this crap of:

First hour only giving out ONE award and one hall of fame induction to Legend of Zelda
Showing off just new trailers introduced by celebrities we don't really care about
              Stupid skits by Felicia Day
And then at the end of the hour they showed off a montage of over 10 winners without so much as a bit of fanfare or showcased the other nominations.

One of the freaking JONAS BROTHERS had more air time than those 10+ winners did.

Edit: And Modern Warfare 3 won best shooter?!!!?

                  Re: The "Random Thoughts" Thread

                  Replying to jimykx:

Well none. Modern Warfare 3 outsold Battlefield 3, and is the most active topic (trending) on Twitter (though possibly because of how many people are pissed off). I assumed MW3 would win given how many customers bought the darn thing. Even with Metascore showing the game's lack of creativity, I doubted all the millions of gamers are in unison of hating MW3, and thus voted to make it win in the VGAs. I'm going to say it even though it hurts like ****ing hell... Call of Duty's multiplayer is the current generation of deathmatch in perfected form (killstreaks and all), much like how Quake used to be (OW! Gawd.... T'is... Urts!). Think about it, how did DICE reduce their focus on what put Battlefield on the industry radar in the first place, and incorporated arena-type deathmatch instead? Why does Battlefield 3 in some cases (thank God not all) look like Call of Duty with destructible larger maps, instead of competing with Conquest and showing off efficient mass-player communication tools such as squad management, commo-rose (as a default feature and not as a customer request), and the original appeal of commanders? So Modern Warfare is obviously (P... AIN!) rightfully (OW OW OW!) the winner, and it should've been easy to call that one (bleeding internally!).

Ignore this, it's boring as hell:

Speaking of developers who forget what made their game familiar in the first place, Kojima Productions... Look, the guy you used to work with may have a tendency to forget his damn lines even with a teleprompter shoved into his face (granted he's not a native speaker, but he could've asked for an interpreter instead), but at least he knows why Metal Gear is Metal Gear. Did you all forget what problem Metal Gear solves the moment Mr. Kojima's work shifts elsewhere? Do you know how many comparisons I can make with your damned game that's been in development for years? Really? You forgot the original problem that Metal Gear is supposed to continue solving? You're REALLY going to throw away Kojima Productions' legacy all for this?... (Here's a hint, the PS3 can handle more than the MSX, yet avoiding battles remained in... Why? Not like the sprite limit problem exists anymore...) I guess Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell, and the upcoming Hitman: Absolution drained any need for tactical espionage action, thus lightning action blablabla is born.

... Why did I watch the VGAs? Penny-Arcade... You showed how E3 should be done. You showed how charities should be done. Can you show Viacom and the Academy Of Interactive Arts & Sciences how an awards show should be done? You know, a stronger focus on what gamers want (ironic since VGAs are vote-driven), focus on less style and more substance (actually less dialog altogether would be the only alternative, since I understand celebrities are the only ones capable of not flubbing their lines), and well... Focus on rewarding people behind the games much like movie and music awards (though keeping the thank-you speeches short is a nice thing to do, because I want to see the next game in line). I am aware that movie and music award shows don't do teasers, so perhaps Penny-Arcade might end up continuing to adopt it anyways, but believe me when I say Penny-Arcade will make a larger impact on representing the industry as a major industry if you let THEM do mainstream media, because they don't do mainstream media! Viacom is part of the mainstream media, and is misguiding how the game industry is being represented, since nobody saw any substance to the VGAs. Even Gamespot screwed up with The Controller, in hopes of penetrating the reality show market with a scripted game show. But look at Penny-Arcade... They teamed up with a lower-budget production company and actually pulled off a reality show that meets the very definition of a reality show! In other words, let THEM show how an awards show can be done (We're Right awards don't count, that's a parody of games winning obvious accolades). It's one of the things they haven't tried yet, but with Robert Khoo's management experience, and Mike/Jerry's PR experience, they will excel at it much like everything else they've attempted for the first time. Plus they are a million times' cheaper than what Spike is asking for. Honestly, the only thing Spike is good for in terms of the gaming industry is keeping the GameTrailers franchise afloat, and giving Geoff Keighley, Amanda McKay, and Daniel Keyser (I hate his puns though) the well-deserved resources to work in mainstream media. Actually... I think TGN or Screwattack should also direct and produce an awards show, and show the world how it's done; we have multiple awards shows with music and movies, so why stick with two for games? Penny-Arcade aren't the only ones who can pull it off.

I need a drink and a nap... That was freaking long to say/type, and I can smell the ****ing pretentiousness reeking from my post hiding behind the "security" of anonymity. I understand anybody, and everybody who ignores this smelly post due to being too long; didn't read...

I only look up at the VGAs for new trailers ... and I've got to say Mass Effect 3 took the show, with The Last of Us coming second.

Also that game from Epic, Fortnite, looks quite intriguing, it seems like Minecraft + TF2 + Horde Mode, I'll definitely keep my eye on that one
