Surely the fact that they unionized has nothing to do with the shut down.

Three weeks ago, 61 out of the 71 employees at Ubisoft Halifax voted to unionize. Today, all 71 employees are now out of a job. Ubisoft says that they have shut down their Halifax location in order to "streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs." You know, the usual bullshit reason companies give for closing down entire studios.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Delayed Until Late 2026

Expected.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed once more. Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, says that Rockstar Games needs "some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve."

The new release date set for Grand Theft Auto 6 is November 19, 2026. This date is still, as far as anybody knows, only for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S release of the game. There has been no PC release even announced.

ZeniMax Workers United-CWA voted to authorize a strike.

Hundreds of workers at the Microsoft owned ZeniMax Media have voted to authorize union leadership to call for a strike.

These video game workers at ZeniMax Media are represented by Communications Workers of America (CWA) Locals 2100, 2108, and 6215 (ZeniMax Workers United-CWA). The vote to authorize a strike at Microsoft was supported by over 94% of those who voted.

A supermajority of quality assurance (QA) workers at ZeniMax just voted to approve the creation of the ZeniMax Workers United/Communications Workers of America. Earlier this morning, QA testers working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf voted unanimously to form Canada's first video game labor union. The motion was first filed on April 20, 2022. The vote concluded today with a final vote of 16-0 in favor of unionizing.
