For all the people that think im attacking hl2, you must be dumb, cuz at no point have i said hl2 sucks. you fucking fanboys dont have to defend hl2 with ur lives and say doom3 sucks is 'unrealistic' blahblahblah. I'm sayin doom3 is gonna be a more fun game with better graphics and better gameplay. The two games are almost identical story-line-wise and weapons are too. But that doesnt mean hl2 will be great too. Just saying hl2 is more explorative and doom3 is more a traditional shoot em up. While in doom3 u feel like you are constantly in action, fighting for your life, and facing new challenges and unsolving a mystery, hl2 has the character explore the destroyed world as a secretive rebel.

I agree with most of what you said here. The people who were saying Doom 3 isn't realistic were, at least at first, talking about the graphics only. By that they/we meant that the textures look a little more simplistic and "plasticy" than HL2's. That is not by definition a bad thing; it merely just doesn't float our boat.



All I've said from the beginning is that I'm not overly excited by Doom 3 personally. I'll be reading reviews, seeing what people think, and maybe some day I'll pick it up and enjoy it. For now, though, I'm just not feelin' the Doom 3 love.

Hmm, Half-Life 2 looks great, so does Doom 3, but when I watch Doom 3 trailer, it feels like all you do is walking from point A to point B in small tunnel of corridors killing jack-in-the-box monsters. Then again, it's not out yet and neither is HL2, so I'll see what's up when I get the games.

There is no way for me to explain how ignorant people are that complain about the delays involved in releasing a game. The fact is these are the same people that would be crying if the game were released early, incomplete and riddled with bugs and crappy gameplay. Go play any game that was released six months to a year earlier than it should have been. You will play it for a week to a month, realise how much of a piece of shit it is, then never play it again.



Valve is one of the only companies that cares about the quality of their games over the money they will be making from them. They delay their games because they are dedicated to creating a full gaming experience, and giving the community what they expected. THEY DONT OWE YOU ANYTHING. And don't say "blah blah blah we the community made the game what it is today and blah blah my asshole hurts" the only reason the community is so large is because THEY provided the support we needed through the SDK and constant updates to the game. Valve didn't "get lucky" when Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat were developed as mods, they gave them the tools these teams needed to make such amazing mods.



Sure, sticking to such a solid release date last year was a mistake. But not nearly the size of a mistake it would have been if they had released the game then for all the whining little kids that cried to their mommy when the game was delayed and they wouldn't be getting it for Christmas.

Thats good proff for me that Valve has gotten their gears working once again. Can't wait... LAN here we come with CS:S :) Nades that make people fly haha, and not look down and say "There a nade, what should I do :)"

csn hasnt posted it yet, but in case u guys didnt know, jb55 over at hl2world.com emailed gabe and gabe said they should have a net gain/fix of bugs in 16 days.

I'd like to talk to anyone that works at a Valve office and ask them a question thats just made me wonder a little. How are they planning on "converting" all these games to the source engine. DOD:S CZ:S etc... I think it would take like 3 years for that. maybe more. The thing is really; im just way too impatient.

People seem to forget that Valve had their original source code stolen a while back. Now, I don't program computer games and I could be mistaken but...it seems to me that had they gone forward and released it anyway, cheats could have been created that would go to the root of the game and be almost impossible to stop. It's hard enough to keep up with the hackers as it is. I do know that they had to go back and re-write a ton of code. Perhaps thats why. If so...delays are welcome. Just a thought.

Some kids that can guy a game eh? Last time I checked that "game" the kids are buying is CZ 1.2, the best version of CS currently playable. A veteran such as yourself should recognize this. Don't wanna pony up the cash for a better CS, then don't. But the money people paid for CZ gains the customers some benefits.



Since any veteran player can see CZ is a better version just by looking at the changelogs, that's probably why Valve is letting CZ owners play the Source beta: because there are some smart, hardcore people playing CZ that can actually provide the feedback Valve is looking for from testers. The whiny CS 1.6 anti-update population probably shouldn't play it, they seem apt to cry about updating the game rather than... enjoy the experience.

i have cs and cz. ive been playing cs since 2000/1.3

atm i still like 1.6 better than cz 1.2

yes the changelogs are nice. but the one thing that hinders 1.2 is its fake-looking maps. i dont like any of the maps except the cbble being back to not-so-friggin-bright.

honestly, theyre trying to accomplish a smooth and graphical look in the new cz maps. but with the hl engine, they instead create a very bland map where camouflage is no longer possible. items like the nightvision and flashlight play absolutely no use whatsoever anymore. i liked it back in the day when choosing the right skin on the right map and hiding in the map played a role. now everything is just run and gun.

for example, aztec. the old aztec had plenty of camouflage involved. now look at it. everything is gray and there are fucking lights in the water. in dust_cz and dust2_cz, the tunnels, besides only having two crummy lights, and absolutely no other light source, is brighter than my room. in 1.6 the tunnels are dark like they are supposed to be. but in cz its so bright it doesnt make any sense.

so being a veteran player and having played soley ut and cs, i can say that cz is not the best version of cs. Yes there are many improvements, but i still have more fun in 1.6

CZ is and has always been a dissappointment, I don't know where you get off calling it the best version of cs available. More like they are rewarding whoever is stupid enough to buy this game which I know isn't alot of people.

Also, Valve has done something right, yet I will believe it win I see it, all I got to say for Valves work :-P I have proff that HL2 has been knowing about for over 4 YEAR, thats sadness!!
