I am sure that Valve have not yet considered this yet

lol im sure in the back of VALVe's corprate mind they keep thinking:

"We should make steam better at preloading, so that we dont overload the servers again."

    then they think:

"we will do it next time or maybe when HL2 starts loading."

The point is... if you think 300MB is bad then just wait until HL2 preloads at 1~2GB

ha! not only that hl2 might be bigger than 2 gigs, im going to guess around 4 gigs at least.

Vavle better have a master plan on how to fix steam.

When it's out, it's out. Don't spend time on arguing when is the releasing date for CS:S beta because Valve never released anything on time. Just check the web sites regularly, and save ur energy on guessing.

I haven't seen anything about HL2 pre-loads. I've only seen where they will release it for sale...and that CS:S is included with it.

Where did this suddenly come from that they will load CS:S over Steam?

You're posting in the comments to a news item that states exactly that >.<

You actually commented in the news post a few days ago entitled "CS:S Preloading Soon". Have you got an extremely short memory?

sounds alot like hl2 actually. if you think hl2 is completely realistic you should stop kidding yourself.

besides, plenty of great games aren't realistic. (quake, ut, hl, and tons of others i could mention).

lol hank thats just like you defending valve, if you like valve because they made one game you like..thats your choice..if someone hates valve because they think there game sucks, or because they delay like crazy, and make poor decisions, then thats his. gee gee fanboy sons of bitches. grow a cock an some hair to go with it.
First off, at no point did I actually defend Valve. I often do, because many people are so determined to hate Valve that they ignore the actual facts of situations in favour of out-of-context quotes and whining.

I personally feel that Valve is a great company, with an almost unheard of dedication to customer satisfaction (i.e. 5 years of Half-Life support). Sadly, I agree that they could use a little help in the PR department.

If you want to hate a company, hate one that gives you good reason. If you want a couple of targets, I direct you to Wal-Mart and McDonald's to start.

What I actually said in my post was that these comments pages are often filled with predictable whining and/or Valve bashing. In this case I don't even see a real cause for it, as this is the first time I've heard anything remotely close to a start date for the Beta.

You guys are really stupid. I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT THE 300 MEG PRE-LOAD. I'm referring to the dolts talking about 2 and 4 gig full game versions. Actually, calling you stupid is a true insult to merely stupid people.

                          Your exact words were:
Where did this suddenly come from that they will load CS:S over Steam?
I assume that you mistyped and that you meant to say HL2 instead of CS:S. Of course HL2 will be released over steam aswell and it will be much larger than CS:S.

i find it highly amusing of how many people still havent been convinced of the capabilities of steam.

Preloading is NOT giving out all the data out to all the people at once, but to distribute the necessary files over time to spread server load over the period of a few days / weeks.

and yes, YOU should`ve ALREADY known about that

I agree mostly but i think that VALVe should implement a system that staggers the release so that people dont try to get the preloading done the day it comes out. (Maybe this is the case already)

I just hope that steam doesn't get any more aggressive at controlling the way people play. Steam seems like it could quite easily become a privacy issue.
