    Blue cold...

because most of the people who like the older version are in leagues like cal. Cal doesnt play those and cs classic is one of those remakes that wasnt as good as the real thing.

So go ahead and focus on all the negative things about CS ... But you guys are the ones ruining it. If you're so pissed then go play Dance Dance Revolution. Truth is that the game has made amazing advance since its "1.3 days" and it WOULD NOT be around still if it was a "shitty game".
Okay I think I've read enough.

Yes I am a newb go ahead and flame, but I've gotten better. All you that complain of all these changes, then go play CS-Classic, it's out there, why dont all you wishing for it go play it then since it's so much better!? THen you come on here and argue abour a pro-mode and how CS is crappy and slow. Again, there's a beta version out, complain to them to bring back 1.3 then be happy and play that, adapt or die out.

Notice that the word in that sentence is HARDER, not EASIER.
I dont think that you understand cs whatsoever. You seem to think that just because someon has skill and can kill people, that they arent smart and cant use teamwork. When you do finally get some experience in scrimming and leagues i think that you WILL change your mind. There are just some things that pubbers cannot understand about cs obviously.
I never said that because someone had skill that they couldn't have teamwork too. I never said that. Such a person would be at the top of the ladder. And a team of such people would be at the top of the ladder as well.

But putting changes in the game (or reverting to older, worse versions of the game) that allow people who do *NOT* have teamwork to *BEAT* the people who *DO* have teamwork is bad.

Smart Newbie > Stupid Elite. If you make Stupid Elite > Smart Newbie, that ruins the game on any intellectual basis whatsoever. Everyone will just try to be Elite first, and Smart as a semi-optional second, as opposed to Smart first, and Elite as an semi-optional second. Optional as long as you're low-class.

The 'pros' or cal-i or whatever would of course require both Eliteness and Intelligence...as they always have.
and they dont... i can think of a couple cal o clans this season that had one cal p /i player on them and did not do as well as teams that were more balances. Reducing recoil and speeding up the game will not hurt the teamplay at all. You seem to think that if you kill people, thats all you will do. I really still do think that you NEED to watch a 1.3 demo and see what im talking about.
I noticed how you said THIS SEASON. The way it is now works. If you implement the changes, it will hurt teamplay. You're putting more emphasis on individual skill...you said this yourself..."more emphasis on *individual* skill"...and individual is NOT teamwork. Put more emphasis on the teamwork, NOT emphasis on 'individual skill'. I don't see how you fail to comprehend how INDIVIDUAL will, overall, make players work as a team less, and instead concentrate more on how well they're jumping/shooting.
Newbie clans will be newbies... if they are only good at killing people you dont want them. Its even like that now. BUT where do you think that the good clans come from. They get good players but ones who are smart as well. And they WORK on their teamwork. Getting this mode would change none of that. And who cares about individual skills in pubs? Look at some of the cal i players who are praised for their skills. How do you think they are cal i? That whole statement is completely wrong. Teamwork will remain as it always has but skill will be more important.
You talk about how it is now, and it's okay. "It's even like that now." But if you implement the changes, then those people who are stupid but can kill people will be the ones winning.

Take a good, ten-minute long look at this equation:

        Intelligent Skilled (cal-i, etc.) >

Intelligent Unskilled (teams with good teamwork, average skill, etc.) >

Stupid Skilled (pubbing frag machines, no teamwork) >

        Stupid Unskilled (AFK equivalents)

You cannot implement changes that would increase the value of 'skill' without increasing the value of intelligence, because at best you will swap #2 and #3 in that list (which would still ruin the game). At worst, you'll diminish the need for intelligence overall.
Leagues do not play the same games as pubs either. Cal.cfg? It is in essence the same game but it is played in a completely different way. You probably wouldnt understand as you have just begun to scrim yourself. But, people who understand me know where im coming from.
Cal.cfg changes such things as friendly fire, start money (to the default), and other such things to promote the best and most fair playing environment possible. It can't edit such things as jumping stamina or recoil. Pubs could quite easily exec cal.cfg if they wanted to. Some do, 12 round maps, no autobalance, friendly fire... It's the server owner's choice.

But 'pro mode' is more than cal.cfg. Recoil and jumping is more than cal.cfg. As in, you either change the entire game pubs and scrims both, create a 'pro mode' (which is stupid), or you forget the idea entirely. I vote for the last option.
Im sorry but individual skill will always count for more. That is how life is. It doesnt matter how well you play in your team. If you cant kill a thing then ur basically worthless.
Clans will of course want skilled players, but they also want intelligent players. Under the changes you suggest, they will only want skilled players. Someone who ranks 10 out of 10 as far as skill goes, but sucks at teamwork, will be picked over someone who ranks a 7 out of 10 at skill, but is a good teammate.

Which would you want more under the current system, if you could only pick from two? A really intelligent person who's new to the game but is learning quickly, or a person who's been playing for years, can frag like the devil, but always runs off alone and doesn't know how to walk or 'delay rush'? Under the current system, you'd want the intelligent one, because if the other person has been playing for 5 years and can't learn teamwork, he probably won't ever. At least the newbie has a chance of improving skill. His intelligence also shows that he'll be a quick learner at such skill.

In your suggested system, clans will start choosing the idiot uber-leet fragger, because having a newbie, no matter how intelligent, will simply hurt their team too much.

Because with the changes you suggest, it is better to simply kill individually than to use teamwork to do it. Hence, 'individual skill'.

You should really just shut up on the subject as you continue to ignore everything except the fact that I've only been in 20-odd scrims the last month or so.

You've ignored my points about how your changes will allow skilled to kill intelligent.

You've ignored my points about a 'pro mode' will prevent any pubbers from entering the pro mode.

You've ignored the points about how it affects everyone, REGARDLESS of how much they've scrimmed, even if they've never scrimmed at all.

I'm not quite sure, and it's not something you can quote me on, because my memory is foggy, but I think I messed around with CS in 1.3 and left because of the jumping and higher level of 'skill'. I couldn't get any practice aiming at someone because I'd die simply to look at them. I couldn't even begin to aim my crosshairs at someone before I was dead, if they knew I was there. And if they didn't, then they'd just jump as soon as I started shooting around, turn around, and kill me. Because I was a newbie at the time, and sucked.

I think I remember quitting CS until the very tail end of 1.4, right when 1.5 came out. I noticed the game was a lot better and enjoyed it. I played quite a lot in 1.5 until I couldn't get fast enough 'net access, and have been playing 1.6 since about last June, back when it was beta.

By the way, I seem to remember a lot of people complaining about 1.6, saying that '1.5 was cs perfection' and stuff like that. They never said anything like '1.3 was cs perfection'. Chew on that.

and thor you obviously cannot grasp the concept of balancing skill and smarts... who says who is smart at cs? Skill is > smarts hence the name first person SHOOTER. wow. What do you not understand. Its not realistic... its not meant to be... if you want tactics play an mmorpg and if you want realism join the army.

You have no room to say anything about cs. Your most experience is pubs and you have not even been playing consistantly for even a year.

Who said this? You have a lot of things that people "say" but you cant say who. did you hear that from your local admin? 1.5 was great compared to 1.6 but 1.3 was even better. Read most cal i profiles on their official sites especially sk (if i remember right half of them would say on their profile page that theyd take 1.3 over anything).

This wouldnt affect anyone who has never scrimmed. this is for competitive environment only. and not only nubs who want to join clans would have to adjust to the change, but everyone else that plans to play this mode. Dont act like there are people who will be at a disadvantage.

And your "stupid elite"... there is no such thing. If your dumb your not elite.

Someone who ranks 10 out of 10 as far as skill goes, but sucks at teamwork, will be picked over someone who ranks a 7 out of 10 at skill, but is a good teammate.

again you are totally wrong. You have never once tried to build a competitive clan so therefor you have no room to comment on how it might be done. Besides the fact that you are totally wrong. Clans look for teamwork and skill. Someone with only skill will be recruited behind the person with slightly less skill but more brains.

and there is one thing that you obviously will not understand and i accept that. You do not have enough experience to understand how players play and what intelligence and fragging has to do with it.

You've ignored my points about how your changes will allow skilled to kill intelligent.

NO i havent. i told you that skilled will almost always kill intelligent because skilled people themselves are intelligent. I think that that is the factor that you are leaving out of everything. You cant go playing for more than a year and not know every spot to check on a certain map. That is impossible unless you are completely dumb. Therefor the smart guy with the better gun WILL win. If you are dumb you will lose. It is like that now and it was like that even more before. That style of play that you are so against would actually improve intelligence. You learn that if you go one way you get killed every time so you learn to go another. You learn that people know that you hide in that spot so you move to another. You have less room for error on the intelligence part which will make you better OVER TIME. You cant expect to play cs for 2 weeks and own everyone and be smarter than everyone. This mode will not cause this because the better people will win. But in a way it will make you better over time. That is how i and many others LEARNED to play cs. You do not understand what that type of play was like and again i seriously encourage you to dl a demo from 1.3-1.4.

And a nub has no place on a scrim team. That IS what pubs are for. Pubs are for building enough skill to get to the lvl where you can compete. and scrims are for learning the tactics to go beyond. It doesnt matter how smart a nub is... if hes hiding behind a door and a guy walks buy but the kid cant shoot him he WILL die.

Maybe you should take a look at cal config too. It changes more than you think. It can change jumping, stamina (by jumping stamina because there is no other such thing as stamina in cs) and can even affect recoil through the server rates. But you failed to know any of this.

You talk about how it is now, and it's okay. "It's even like that now." But if you implement the changes, then those people who are stupid but can kill people will be the ones winning.

again not true. The better more skilled people will be able to kill them because they have MORE practice and experience. Its not tactics or stupidity you are talking about its experience. Experience is what makes a cs playing smart.

You've ignored my points about a 'pro mode' will prevent any pubbers from entering the pro mode.

Pub player would be able to. Just like evryone else. Everyone who wanted to play would have to get used to it. Thats that. I would have to get used to it and so would the kid just starting out at scrimming.

lmao - that site is so stupid, especially that article, its entirely full of bad ideas and really bad suggestions on how to implement them

:/ basically if u do that like everyone says, most places that know how to run a server will be using that 'pro mode' and then again, ytf would you change the mechanics of the game for a 'pro mode' -- maybe more or less, it would become the 'easy mode' :/ im sorry but wasn't cs made with recoil the way it is, because it is the way it is? wtf does that have to do with being 'pro' - the game changed, the pros adapted, new players don't have to adapt to change, so therefore no need to 'change' the game, :/ its a fact, if you hang around for a while you're going to see things happen, so..what is this other than a bunch of bs for ppl wanting old versions or options, :/ you already have your mods that let you jump old-style, you can strafe jump anyway and, :/ its just a copout to make cs more nubbish than anything else, totally opposite of what they say..gg ukt was always lacking in the intelligence department, the only thing needed to be chagned is the fact the game is so outdated in some respects..

cs2? lmfao that's the dumbest idea ever, someone up top was talkin about how they're tyrint o milk cs/hl for money with lan fees, wow like did you just find that out..? :/ no shit they're going to do this, otherwise everyone can play off a few cdkeys at the lan, :/ shit happens, the lans will survive - they don't run for free -- on another note, DUH they're milking it for all its worth, it was a mod that started free, has been extending the life of hl and is now a game of its own, why would they even consider a cs2..? they can't recreate cs respectfully and get the same crowd it currently has, notice most games are just trendy for a bit nowadays? :/ they wouldn't jeopardize such a thing, be realistic, not foolish -- there's no cs2 planned or even thought of, :/ nt but hl2 means a half life sequel, not a cs sequel..cs 1.6 - not far from cs v2.0, that's as close ur gonna get~

I TOTALLY disagree with Chan. There were alot of proposed changes as ideas to be thrown out into the community. Some good some not, all valid for discussion. Shooting them down and name calling is just stunting the growth of the user voice of CS. Please, no mud slinging.

I'm not a fan of all the changes either, but I definitely liked 1.5 better than 1.6 in regards to recoil. Yeah, I was around back in the bunny hopping days of old, and yeah it took some getting used to when it changed, but cs became a little more unique to me and I still loved it. While it is often a pub game with new players, I still believe that people who practice should be rewarded. Why do old timers still pwn? Our guns might be F***ed but we still know every hidyhole ambush, and tactic on the map.

Heres my biggest gripe- Skill dominated 1.3- too much maybe but it was fun for a time. Skill still ruled up till 1.5- deaglers, scouters and usp specialist's were uncommon, but effective. Since 1.6 no pistol in any way matches the rifle, in general rifles reign, whether it be ak, colt, or even an autosnipey (much improved now to the point of being limited on some servers now) Fire fights aren't so much player skill as who has the bigger gun, fired first, and lucked out. There is no "damn, I shoulda had him but I panicked, I'll be ready for him next time," Its, "WTF I saw him first, did everything right, and the doOd Full autod in a panic (previously the surest way to die horrably) and scored a hs on me!!!" That would be fine and good if every other spray didnt yeild to a hs.

Guns are more random but they are also more accurate because of it-

basically- most players aren't very good shots in a pub, a skilled mp5

will pwn the whole lot by presenting a moving target. Point and spray is kinda like a shotgun now, if you aim in the general direction and spray long enough you WILL score a hit. This spells death to the poor out classed gun with the now LOWERED acuracy. \sad really.

Like I said on the other forum. Cs is turning into a one trick pony. The versatility and speacialization are all going away to acomodate the new guy on the block, and the flavor is turning sour as each round becomes much more similar to the last. Whats the point when acuracy is an equation and not a skill?

It isnt about lowering recoil- its putting the skill back into it. Allow people SOME control over their weapons- just make it difficult to do.

Haha, I used to suck with an AK and Rock with Colt//mp5 --- I should STILL suck with an AK darnit!!!!

Bring back the weapon specialists who rocked- Btw anyone try playing a deagle map now? its REALLY depressing.

The main problem here is randomness and gameplay speed.

In pubs, randomness allows nubs to get that head shot, even thoguh they were aiming somewhere else. In competitive CS, it's not about equations... The randomness reduces the ability for a player with good accuracy to hit his target, even with the crosshair dead on target. Randomness = noob friendly...

Gameplay speed in competitive CS is a must. Keeping tens or hundreds of thousands of spectators interested in the match isn't easy with a slow game. In pubs, it doesn't matter what happens. The goal in pubs is to increase costs of "common" weapons so that the uncommon ones become used more often. Usually this results in weapons too costly to use often in a CS match (12 rounds/half style).

The loving/hating of randomness and increased weapon costs is what's driving people to come up with a pro-mode. Quake 3 came with a Pro Mode, and CS wouldn't be too far behind if the pub and competitive players' interests differed so much.

And dont talk bad about ukt... That is one of the more league orientated sites and it is one of the better sites for the european players. I think people there know a lot more of what they are talking about than you.

And there most likely will be something like cs2... with the new hl2 coming out there will probably be a new game engine involved. That would probably also mean that cs would be updated to it hence a cs2. Whether they call it cs2 or not, it will be a new cs.

Intelligence and experience and such are learned things, yes, but there's a difference between the two, and even more of a difference between 'experience' and 'skill'.

In this case, I define intelligence as knowing /what/ to do, skill as being able to do it well, and experience as a blend of the two that gets better over time as you play more.

Someone who is skilled, but not experienced, should not be able to kill someone who is intelligent, but not experienced. Also, any two people with equal experience, the intelligent should win over the skilled. The intelligent person may not be good at the correct action, but the non-intelligent person would not be able to figure out what the correct action even is.

No they cant... well they can but it will make no sense to people who have actually played the game. And what makes you think you are any of the three?

"Who said what? If I even knew what you were talking about, I'm sure I could bother to take the time to find where I read it."

Hey, why dont you try reading the post moron... i know its a first grade concept but come on...

"That's what they do NOW. I was giving an *example* of what would happen if you initiated the changes boosting the importance of individual skill."

So you were "giving an *example* of what would happen if you initiated the changes boosting the importance of individual skill" but it is already happening now? nice example... lol maybe you shouldnt contradict yourself.

"Someone who is skilled, but not experienced, should not be able to kill someone who is intelligent, but not experienced."

Why? Who gets to decide who should kill who? What makes someone who knows where to camp better? That is why pro mod or something like that needs to happen. CS has turned into a campfest where campers see themselves as "Strategic Positioning Specialists"... wow.

"Prove it. Last time I read cal.cfg I didn't see anything of what you're talking about."

Again you obviously dont know what your talking about. You obviously dont understand the commands which i can see why. sv_airaccelerate... that affects the pause after the jump. Servers can change that but cal config sets it. Believe it or not your ping and rates can affect the ammount of recoil you get. Doubt youd understand that either.

"And this would be the reason that all the pubs would play 'pro mode', thus making 'pro mode' a pointless addition, since you'd be changing the majority of CS anyway."

When did i say the word pub? and what would make it pointless?

Get back to me when you learn more abou cs in lets say 2 years?

You havent read any of my posts... at least not intelligently
Of course I have. You haven't shown any signs of being intelligent whatsoever, however, and are beginning to get on my nerves with your closemindedness, stupidity and ignorance.

I play for three seconds on dust and say that the radar is too translucent. I know this probably won't make sense to you because you don't even know what it means, but it doesn't nullify the value of the comment simply because I've only begun to play.

And I know I'm all of those three and sincerely doubt that you're any of them.

"You have no room to say anything about cs. Your most experience is pubs and you have not even been playing consistantly for even a year.

Who said this? You have a lot of things that people "say" but you cant say who. did you hear that from your local admin?"
Again I say...who said what? The paragraph beginning with 'you have no'? YOU did.

Go back to school and get something better than a C in English.
"That's what they do NOW. I was giving an *example* of what would happen if you initiated the changes boosting the importance of individual skill."

The example I gave is what they would do. The example you gave (of it working correctly) is what they do now. After you said the second example, I said "That's what they do now" with 'That' being your example (of it working correctly). Then I went on to say "I was giving an example" so that 'I was giving' was referring to my earlier example (that isn't how it is now, but how it would be with the changes).

Again I say, go back to English class and learn something. You really need to learn how to read.
Why? Who gets to decide who should kill who? What makes someone who knows where to camp better? That is why pro mod or something like that needs to happen. CS has turned into a campfest where campers see themselves as "Strategic Positioning Specialists"... wow.
There's more to intelligence in CS than 'knowing where to camp'. I could attempt to explain it to you but I doubt you'd comprehend anything other than "ooh, shiny crosshair go over bad guy's head go BOOM!"
Again you obviously dont know what your talking about. sv_airaccelerate is your movement speed in midair, which is usually the same or near the same as movement speed on the ground. If you've ever played what's called (but isn't) 'matrix mod', where when you jump backwards you go zooming forwards, it's because that variable has been tweaked.

Ping and rates cannot affect the amount of recoil you get, however it can affect whether the bullets hit or not. Interp encompasses ping and rates.
When did i say the word pub? and what would make it pointless?
                              Comment #198:
Pub player would be able to. Just like evryone else. Everyone who wanted to play would have to get used to it.
Because everyone would turn on sv_pro 1 or whatever and play the same game as the pros. Pointless for having a 'mode' for it, since everyone else will play it too. If the changes occur, they will occur to all of CS, not to a 'pro mode'. Having a 'pro mode' is pointless.
Get back to me when you learn more abou cs in lets say 2 years?

sv_airaccelerate is what affects the jump. Dont believe me ask someone that you think knows. Ping and lag does affect recoil... again ask someone who you think may know. And you act like i dont know this why??

Rofl. if knowing cs after playing cs after playing it for close to 3 years makes me any of those three then i guess you caught me. How have i shown that im not intelligent?

good one lol. what translucent? lol You can make all of the comments about the game that you want as long as they are small things like that. You cannot make accurate comments about gameplay, how it was, or how it should be because of your total lack of experience.

i think right now im ranked at the top of my class. Thx. And o yeah... school is every day for me. You may need to go back and brush up on a few skills that you seem to have missed in your WISE age.

I paraphrased your example hence you just admitted to contradicting your self. Thank you ladies and gents.

NOw did that answer my question? No. At the expense of being an attemtemped ethug id say that i would take you up on any of your comments and actually play you at cs. But i think ill just not waste my time and let you continue to think you are the single smartest man alive when in fact... your not. *SHOCKER*

Ok lets change all of cs then. Fine with me.

And when i said pub player the "pub" in that is an adjective, not the noun that you turned into into. I was refering to the player and not the server. Maybe you should take the trip back to 6th grade english?
