what excellent point was that? anything he said that was remotely intelligent was ansered
a lot of the ideas have been put forward by "pros" liek on that link to gamers.nu
they were against it because theyf eel it would split the community but they like most of you are blind to see it is already split
not all his changes are good. sum stuff is pointless but the ways he suggests to make the game faster and less random can only be good.
it wudnt mean we wud all have to play it either
really dont understand why some people are SO opposed to it. its not liek he raised the price of your burgers or insulted your mumns. he just put a lot of other peoples ideas together in an article

yo...changing the "randomness" in CS would change the GAME. If you want total accuracy go play UT. The game of CS IS randomness, randomness MAKES and is part of Counter-strike. This game ALLOWS unskilled people to sometimes kill skilled people. That is what Conter=strike is.
What it comes down to is he wants to make the game less random. The way the game is now, people who have been playing for years at an extremely high skill level can be killed by someone who has been playing for 2 months just because of the random factor. That's bullshit.
I think pro-mode would be a good idea, but a better idea would be this:
Just make the guns more accurate.
I went to a 1v1 UT2k3 tournament and played against this kid, and I lost something like 25- -1. I consider myself a pretty damn good UT player, but this kid's skill level was just so much higher than mine because the game ALLOWS his skill level to be that much higher by making the guns be 100% accurate all the time.
What I want, ideally, is to see the skill gap much greater among the top players. I want to see the best of the best be truly able to dominate teams they are that much better than. I want 3D to be able to beat a middle of the road CAL-M team 24-0 EVERY match. I want the game to lower the randomness to a point where the team that has the best aim and the best tactics win EVERY time.
Every real sport is not random. The closest thing you have to randomness in any real sport is the wind, and that is something you can mitigate because it is first, not a huge factor in most sports, and second, if you play enough, you can learn how to handle the wind, because you can train yourself to kick or hit the ball a certain way. Everything else, every other random factor, are all human factors. That is to say, the team that plays the best on any given day is going to win. You can't have this in CS because there is no way to train yourself how to handle the recoil. It's aiming in the general direction of the target and hoping the random number generator says you have 1 bullet in the head hitbox and one in the arm and one in the leg, so the guy you are shooting at is dead.
Lower the randomness of the recoil to a point where if you have the best aim in the game, and you're aiming at the target, you're going to kill the target EVERY time. Make skill be the ultimate deciding factor, not a random number generator.
you make it sound like this randomness ruins the game. Well, i see over 100,000 people playing this game, and not nearly as many playing UT. Seems like a lot of people like it that way.Comment

at the end of the day it all comes down to what valve wants to do, but with that in mind...whenever i watch a video of *insert random clan or player here* i know that i have a remote chance of doing that because we are playing the same game, not just because his "pro" mode has less recoil and more accuracyComment

Call me crazy, but it seems that way too many people decry the "randomness" of the recoil post-1.3. Sometimes noobs get lucky shots when spraying, even the best players will get killed by bad players sometime. If you understand how to limit the recoil by bursting or crouching while shooting, you will still do better than noobs who spray full-auto all the time. It's not like confrontations have come down to a roll of the dice. The better aimers and the smarter, more experienced players will still get the kills the majority of the time. If you think you're some kind of pro and yet you get owned trying to use the guns as per past versions' recoil, then the problem is your inability to adapt. Make a mod like CS-Classic, throw in bunnyhopping, take out recoil, and call it CS-Arcade. Then stop whining.

So let me get this straight, UKTerrorist is suggesting that the "proS" get the stuff in the game fixed that everyone else wants fixed too ... Sounds like a Steam Update that everyone could use, no point in creating a "Pro Version" when everyone would want those changes.Comment

you yanks are the reason cs sucks so much atm, we're all getting sick of the constant dumbing down of the game for fat american teens who play public servers. These changes were suggested for a decent clanned game of cs something no one in america seems to play or atleast the vast majority of csn readers as we say in the uk stick to UK2.Comment

Technically the recoil isn't the issue here. Crouching and firing in bursts does allow you to control the recoil (although there has been the occasional action hero/heroine who jumps out in the open [shootdodge?] and blows two people's heads off mysteriously).
The problem is that (yes I do suck at the game, I'll be one of the few to happily admit it since I really don't care) crouching tends to make you 99.9% vulnerable to an easy headshot. I have no clue what the CS/HL hitboxes look like since I've heard HLMV doesn't show the real hitboxes (which makes me ponder why the feature is there in the first place), but I've heard your head hitbox is exposed more when ducking (yes, this is a rumour, so I would appreciate some denial and clarification).
I too have been scoring headshots (pretty sure I was aiming at their shoulders/half an inch of air [call me blind, I don't mind]) whenever people crouch and start firing in bursts (I was lucky that their reaction was slower than mine).Comment

well, crouching and firing in bursts used to make a huge difference with the M4. The M4 is my favourite gun, is the gun I was best with, and is the gun I've done the most testing with on Target_Range too. Crouching and firing used to get you up to 6 or 7 shot bursts that were useful, as I already stated, and in v1.6 you now get 3, and if you luck out in the random factor, 4 good shots. Multiple bursts don't help much, it seems like the random factor takes a lot longer to calm down than before. So, you are bursting, but in a way you're not either. I'm not saying I am the greatest player in the world, but I could definitely do more than hold my own on pubs with some pretty decent players on them. I keep using de_aztec as an example, and I will again right now. I could quite routinely jump off the bridge and take out AWPers with my M4 when they were standing way back near their spawn at the bottom of the hill. Quite often a headshot. By crouching and bursting 4-5 shot bursts, usually getting them in that first burst. Now, I'm lucky if that ever happens, even if they suck with the AWP and miss me 4 or 5 times. I'll stay motionless and crouched, bursting away, and they don't die. Even though I've been killing people that way quite routinely for a couple years. The huge random factor introduced in v1.6 has all of a sudden made the M4 useless at that range, unless you luck out. Like a lot of people, I started playing DoD because all the randomness in CS made it much less fun to play and in DoD all my shots are, what a concept, GOING WHERE I AM AIMING.K-16 wrote..
