UPDATE: took me 2 1/2 days of chasing to find the buck after shooting him in the skull to the right of his right eye'

i guess it slowly killed him
This is why people are supposed to hunt with BULLETS.... so deer and other animals aren't tortured for days waiting to be killed. A responsible hunter would have tracked and killed it properly the day they shot it, instead of going home to have supper and shoot the shit.

Hunting has it's place, but if everyone hunted there would be nothing left to hunt. Look at how few animals England has now after centuries of a dense population hunting. Keep in mind it was illegal to hunt the kings prey, but it occured anyhow because people had to eat, just as illegal guns will always find their way into the hands of people who want them.

Just because you are a hunter doesn't mean you can speak for the majority of hunters out there either. The majority of hunters don't follow all the rules, sure it may be a little infraction that they do on a regular basis or it may be something major like drinking while operating a firearm. People in general are not that well educated these days in any subject, besides television.

In Canada you can own AKs and other assault rifles, as long as you have the proper licenses and permits.

I collect guns. I can understand why they trade etc, but without a license, and using the gun in that manner is just asking for trouble.

Constitution, Bill of Rights, blah blah, it's all the same piece of paper when you get down to it. They are inalienable rights and laws given to us courtesy of our forefathers who penned them and fought to the death for them. I never said I could do anything I want with them I said I COULD OWN ONE if I want to, hunt with it and it's legal thanks to those said laws. Geeezzz, talk about taking a person out of context, or getting picky. Go cry me a river please.

And FYI, the 2nd Amendment right to bear and keep arms holds true to this day, if you think this country will always be a free one look again. Just because you THINK that's what it meant does not mean that is what our forefathers had intended. Thinking and being are two different things when it comes to a nation's laws and citizen's rights.

The sad fact of the day is our rights are being taken, watered-down and stripped from us one day after the next by politicians "who feel they know what's in our best interests" and giving "modern interpretations/additions" of said laws.(us as citizens being lazy, apathetic and cynical about our law making process doesn't help much either) Go read up on some recently passed legislation, namely the recently passed "Patriot Act" which in itself is the biggest oxymoron of legislation of them all I have seen passed. Broad-sweeping federal agency powers anyone? Search and seizure without a warrant anyone? Imprisionment or detainment without notice or notification of relatives or when you will be released? Sounds almost like a police state to me! I am all for terriorism crackdowns and homeland security but at the price of my freedoms??? NO THANKS!

The forefathers of our country knew that a government will always be kept in check from becoming a dictatorship by gun-owning citizens, that is why those laws were written, why they are there and why they should remain there. Without the 2nd amendment there will be no need keeping any other amendments so to speak because the government will have free reign to control a weapon-less population. If you don't think anything like that can happen here, think again... Go read up on what happened in Germany before Hitler's rise to power before WWII. I think I distinctly remember something about GUN REGISTRATION before they started GUN SEARCH AND SEIZURE before Hitler's rise to power and assuming dictatorship! So yes, I do think I know what the EFF I am talkin' bout Willis when it comes to "STUFF".
again you miss my point also i am 31.. my point is this there is no need too go hunting with semi auto /auto rifles our forefathers put it in the constitution/bill of rights because we were in fear of being invaded by england which was over 200 years ago we have come a very long way since then. didi they have 911 back then when u could pick up a phone and call for someone with a gun? no they didint did they have organized armies that can and will kick anyones ass? no they didnt so save ur 2nd amendment crap. yes you have the right too own your gun and go shoot whatever animal you want yay for u bet you feel proud. there is no reason for any i repeat any citizen too own/use a gun make it so only police and military can or at the very least only allow certain types of guns ie .22 pistole or rifle only no citizen needs a friggin mak90 or an ak or an mp5 or an uzi except for illegal purposes which is what they are primarily used for.

The Soviet AK is ILLEGAL in most countries, however I own a Steyr remake of it(I'm legal.)

BTW I bought it at a pawn/gun shop.

what if your just a gun enthiusiast?

i myself am underage to own any gun, but someday i want to apply for the license to own a machine gun, simply because i am fascinated with them.

i know that by then i will be safe and responsible, and not use my guns for any stupid things.

so whats the harm in that?

so do you trust a nation which has the biggest crime problem, one of the loosest set of gun controls in effect, like 2000 more nukes than anywhere else in the world and still has the stupidity to get george bush elected not once but twice? (lets be honest, sr, jr, theres only a letter difference)

and if you do, maybe thats why there are kids who want to swap guns around, and why there are parents retarded enough to buy them. congratulations television and illusion-of-choice politics.

oh plus theres NBC, crusade-esque wars, blah blah, you all heard it before and the americans get their head stuck up their arse through the diaper of patriotism thats filled with something else metaphorical so they wont hear anyway.

I grew up in a household filled with firearms... my father, who was a Drill Instructor in the Army during the late sixties, collects firearms and is also an avid hunter. At a very early age, I was taught proper handling, storage, and care of firearms. While I don't hunt, I do enjoy shooting at ranges or trapshooting.

I can tell you that there are two kinds of parents in the world... I feel lucky to have been raised by someone with more than half a brain and the heart to discipline. The mother of the "AK-47" owning child should be held responsible and punished... and the media should keep the focus on the bad parenting angle, not CS or stoking the "gun control" fire.

One of the things the article seems to miss is that what this kid actually had was probably a semi-automatic version of an actual AK-47... I highly doubt the mother had a Class 3 license to buy her son a selective fire weapon. So, that sensationalism aside, we are left with a parent (who is obviously not involved enough in her child's life as a responsible parent) that made the decision to bring firearms into the child's life to teach the level of responsibility that *should* have been a part of basic firearm ownership.

This is a shame and it makes me pity the child involved... that he has missed out on the opportunity to have been raised to be a responsible adult.
