Would anyone mind if I asked WHY valve has chosen to force steam upon us.
Unless I am mistaken the only real use of it for the average counter-strike player is that it downloads new updates for you. People say "it will be fine in a week or 2 once everyone has got the update" but then you will have no need for it!
Why oh why are we being forced to use this buggy and impracticle platform, it sucks! I have one of the best computers on the market (3Ghz, 512mb DDR400, GeForce Ti4200 8x) yet still it crashes when I try to play.
When will they realise that people don't want stuff done for them. If steam won't work (as it doesn't for many people) they can't play CS. They can't update themselves in a matter of hours like they used to, what on earth was wrong with that system!?!?! If Steam was made to streamline the update procedure they have failed miserably.

I would have to agree that the update thing is fundamentaly flawed. However, playing 1.6 through the steam beta was a pleasurable experience for me. My latency was about 5 times lower than with 1.5, which was incredibly laggy in comparison
and built in features proved very handy.Comment

Well as some of you may have noticed...i have 10,286,550 minutes remaining until i have CS1.6
in spite of this i guess you could say i was a little....insane, and rightly so.
Is it too much to ask for a simple guy, in a simple world, to get his CS1.6??? i mean c'mon, i simply wish to shoot someone in the head, thats all!
BUT NO!!! Valve have to deny my unstability ofwhich i control by killing digital people....well arent i in a bit of a delema!!!
