listen, ive been playing this beta since it came out. you must understand. steam sux. also, do you know how many problems occur when the whole world downloads and updates the most popular game in the world in a day? this. all the problems you have metioned. But i have learned some tricks. i have the install icon on my desktop at all times and for updates i average 4 reinstalls per update. it takes a series of restarting, system restoring, and reinstalling. it will work. just have patience.

Has anyone figured out how to get back the normal weapon names? I hate having to look at Bullpup, Maverick M4A1, Magnum Sniper Rifle....what the hell is this, Goldeneye? I don't want fake names, I want my real CS Mod version names back

When steam updated, it transfered all of the counter-strike folders to a new directory, right? Well, I had some skins in there that I didn't want for the new update...Anyone know where i can locate the folder?

I get this as a steam error NOT windows.



i get this after wateing on the CS sceen with the two guys on it, HL.exe locks up and then gives me that.

I would have to agree that the update thing is fundamentaly flawed. However, playing 1.6 through the steam beta was a pleasurable experience for me. My latency was about 5 times lower than with 1.5, which was incredibly laggy in comparison

yeah.... 5 times lower eh.. in most servers i usually get 90-80 ping.. 5 times lower.. wow.. u must of had a sweet connection..



but i got my cs working.. and its more laggier.. and im not even in game anymore.. im at the main menu..



but thankfully everything went smoothly.. no freezes :)

I managed to play 1.6. But I just realized it sucked. Half the people shield whore and then when thers like 1 person left on each team, and they both have shields, nothing happens for the longest time till the round ends.

yea i see nothing diferent for reall about the shields they still exploit them right when i finnally got to play that is all some peeps did, i tell you the shield is really skrewd up and does not work peeps still abuse it, which just goes to show that cs is dead, it will never be like it was now and also y is the hl.exe and steam.exe still never closes on its own, i would try and tell steam and vavle but there emails do not work so can not tell them shit, man well at least i got 4 years to play, it was kewl while it lasted, but i will not be buying anything from vavle or steam lates iam just sick of the bs. the game was fine even before steam.

yeah... i don't know why either. In 1.5 i used to get latancies (not quite the same as ping, remember) of about 100-300. When usiing steam i seem to get values of about 30-40 or about 70 at worst. Maybe it just likes me for some reason. :).



Oh... and I have managed to play a little since updating and still good low values. nice. Steam still freezes far too much though (to be expected)

Alright this is enough of this BS. Steam is totally a peice of shit! Not to put down Valve or anything but this is like the worst update I have ever seem. Also WTF is with having a minimum requirement of a 1ghz computer. My computer is a 850 AMD, with 640 RAM and a Geforce FX 5600 256 ddr. Now you cannot tell me that you cannot make the update work with lower processors. I run with 100 fps fine with this computer, and there should be no reason why I cannot play on this computer. I think many other people are going ot agree with me, and are going to be really pissed. I am pissed because I paid money for this game, and all of the sudden now I cannot play it because the update says I can't? I don't think so... Valve better fix this many people such as my self are not going to play. Also the time it takes to load the damn game is crazy. Even on our P4 2.4 it takes almost 10 minutes to just open steam, now wtf is with that? Also what about the people that plan on playing in leagues and shit, this is a total delay to us people that were ready to play and now have to wait for every member to be able to get the new shitty steam. I feel bad for all those 56kers because they are going to have such a hard time getting this. Valve first of all shouldn't have releasted this yet because its a buggy mofo. Also they should have had the File Hosting Servers with more bandwidth. I was looking through my firewall and I was dling from steam at like 4-5 kbs with my dsl. Thats patetic.



I hope Valve cancels this release and fixes the bugs, and makes a normal patch. Steam is totally GAY!

Yeah... that 1ghz requirement is a bit fuckin pathetic isn't it. But then i'm not too worried about that with my XP3000. as for steam taking 10 mins to load, thats more to do with your net connection. Steam doesn't seem to open until it has been able to connect to the servers and logged you in. I personally don't think steam is gay, and so far have enjoyed using it. Well everyone has a different experience I suppose.
