This is something I'd expect a Massively Multiplayer game, with the huge resources they typical have, to do. Not a fps(even a wildly popular one) like HL.

oh and is this a common problem or is it just lucky me...Everytime i try and get my games menu...steam freezes....EVERYTIME???

oh and i cant even update cs...its just says preparing to play counter-strike..and there it sits ..so anyway how about this weather huh??

I personally want to begin by saying that VAVLe should only accept customers that are 16 or older because all you 13 year old boys keep crying and it's annoying. Now I remember why I never want to have kids. So let me ask all you "boys", don't you have something better to do than STARE at the monitor as it slowly scrolls by? Go ride your bike, play with little Suzy at the park, fly a kite. Good Lord, do something other than sit here and flame VALVe for a product they let us use at an incredibly cheap price (I'm talking about those who didn't get the game for free) and are only trying to make things better (i.e. Updates).



Also, is this your first update experience? The first couple of days are always hectic and of course, you always see the 13 year olds log on IRC or Forums/Threads and spam EVERYONE with either the same questions over and over or the ever so popular flames. "I HATE VALVE!! SuX0r my d1ck valf! IM QUITTING!!?!?11!" Awesome, maybe that'll open some bandwidth up for the rest of us players who realize that sometimes someone or something gets in the way of your job performance, such as a million people (an estimate) trying to update their games all at once. Be patient and you'll get to play.



But most of all, you can't honestly tell me that when 1.4 or 1.5 updates came out that you didn't spend a little time downloading them yourselves. Perhaps you should look into your own issues as to why you're having problems because most of us here just don't want to listen to it. Steam is an excellent product and besides a little extra time downloading and updating, I've never had problems. Instead of trying to find the worst in Steam, why not look at some of the goods things that have come out of it. It's definitely the most advanced platform/client I've ever used. So, thank you VALVe.

I think this "low id" thing started in WON, as people with low ids loved to say "I play since the beta x.0!" "U noobs arent leet as we veterans". Now it doesnt have this meaning, but people still loves the 1337 low ids.

i update everything fine, but when i try to hit launch counter-strike it says preparing to play cs and it doesnt do anything. It isnt frozen because the "..." are still moving but it wont launch

I've gotten that too. From what i've heard that thing right there is actually another download phase. Im not completely sure about this rumor though.
