It takes the CD-key from your registry. Well it did mine. It even knew I had the HL Platinum Pack.

Ok, there is NO need to enter key if you converted. IE you had the game installed already.



NOW, the STEAM ID is in the Steam.Log file. I installed to X:\Steam2\ so my Steam.log is X:\Steam2\Steam.log. Figure it out for yourself. Your STEAM ID is teh LAST number on the CSComm lines. Mine is "CsComm ConnectionPool Sep-12-2003 01:59:57.128 [1968] Found existing connection 6,216.228.115.68:27030 for 0:1:2407" so my ID is 2407. The last number.

ok so its sloww to update cause i already have it...it didnt work before..now its jsut updating super slowly in fact after 3 mins of waiting it hasnt moved a single bar and i have 10 mb d/l top speed adsl cmon here is it really THAT slow?

your steam Id should read like this x:x:xxxx



its starts at 0:0:0000 but once it reaches 0:0:9999 it will roll over to 0:1:0000



so the last 4 numbers aren't your steam ID



btw mine is 0:1:2343
