I don't know about this. So many communities hate their publishers/creators. In the Worms Armageddon community, every person hates Team17 due to lies, 2 year long delays, and no support whatsoever.

I figured they'd either give the shield a damage-reduced armor value or jack up the price. Which could they pull off faster? I voted for raising the price. Not necessarily a nerf, but I think it will make the shield a more tactical piece (like snipers in CAL/CPL) now, instead of something that can be wh0red by a whole team.

Shield is a very good thing, especially on cs_assault with 32 players. Downright impossible for the CT without the shields.

The shield is also cool because it makes cs_seige possible for the cts.



But I also like that the whole team can't/won't buy it now that it's more expensive cuz some won't be able to afford it.

I expected that they would give make the shield take a certain about of damage before it breaks. God, but they need to fix the glitch though. Once there aren't any glitchers, it'll be a lot easier to judge the true effectiveness of the shield.

i want to try out the shield, because then i could actually have some sort of educated opinion. but i want to keep my cs 1.5 since thats what i use for clan and league play. is there anyway to play both short of installing halflife to two different locations and having cs 1.5 and 1.6 on each one?



i dont want to go all the way to cs 1.6b without being able to play 1.5 again.

Shield at 2200 is odd. I thought that it was being introduced to counter eco rounds against ak/colt wielding enemies, along with the cheap Galil/FAMAS.



I hate when updates do this. The developers go out on a limb with a new idea, a few people moan about it, then they tone it down a bit making it pointless. I mean why bother with the shield if you're only a few bucks away from a colt anyway?

Download Steam. It's not going to affect your CS 1.5 directory at all.



And where's the new Half-Life 2 movie Barricade? I still don't see it on the Half-Life 2 media.

So with Steam open for download for anyone on the web, that makes Counterstrike a free game for the time being. Or does Steam make sure you have 1.5 before it allows you to install CS? And if CS is free right now, what incentive do people have buying the game? The 1.6 beta runs just as well, if not better than 1.5, in my opinion.



Just curious, because you don't see companies that hold the rights to the largerst multiplayer game in the world giving their product out for free nowadays.
