#1: There are other companies out there doing anti-cheat. This is simply for all those that say VAC rules. Blizzard in particular has smacked down hackers on Diablo II, and other than one single popular hack on WC3 (that also got smacked down), I don't think there's any. Game makers can and do fight hackers.
#2: Any anticheat is better than none.
#3: False positives for 5 year bans with little if any exoneration sounds bad to me. I'm sorry but there's no way around this one. That just sounds bad. I can't even say "at least it's not permanent" because most likely if I couldn't play CS for five years I'd probably forget it existed and never play it again.
#4: As far as hacking goes, I don't care if a newbie is hacking to be a moderate-level player, and not some butt-kicking headshot factory. HE'S STILL HACKING. Give him his 0/30 score, if that's what he earns without hacks. Allowing hacking of this nature simply because admins can't spot 'em is against my morals.
#5: As far as the hacks go, do your part. When you find a hack that works, tell VAC about it, so they can use it themselves, figure out how it works, and prevent it. Don't use it to test every update of VAC and wonder why it isn't fixed yet. Between you and the people who actually use the wallhack, nobody's telling VAC about it. So how do you expect them to fix it? Surf the web themselves?
They probably have better things to do, like fix the ones that have already been reported.
#6: You have to admit that way, way more than half the false positives are gonna be people who really were hackers trying to get back in. No ifs ands or buts about THAT. Okay, maybe not more than half (I mean, who really knows anyway?) but quite a bit of them, no doubt.
#7: As I understand it, I paid for a CD in a box that allows me to play a team game. They even were kind enough to enable constant support for the listing of possible servers. I looked twice, and never found "We will prevent hackers for you" anywhere in the EULA, box, CD, game software, anywhere. They do this out of the kindness of their hearts. You paid the money for the game, and if you don't like it, don't play it. And if you aren't going to play it, then stop coming to a website for it and telling everyone you aren't going to play it. Sheesh.
I think that's all for now.
