    CSX in 2003

More information on Counter-Strike for Xbox (story) and the Xbox Live service has been released. Xbox Live, the online service for the console, will go, uh, live on November 15th, a year after the launch of the fairly successful console. An Xbox Live starter kit will be the only way to jump into the online fray. It comes with a year's worth of service, an online demo disc/minigame, and a headset kit (which will be usable in every single Xbox Live game). The kit will retail at $49.95 (which, of course, isn't $50).

Counter-Strike itself won't be out on November 15th, of course. The questionable port (mailbag) will be released sometime during 2003, along with such titles as Halo 2 and Star Wars: Galaxies.

For more information on Xbox Live, check out this funny Microsoft advertisement (broadband only) and read up over at Team Xbox.

I think rze is right, it's selling the least of the three consoles so far but it isn't doing as bad as say the Sega Saturn.

Personally I couldn't imagine using an X-Box controller to play Counter-Strike...and finding it the least bit enjoyable after using a mouse and keyboard for two years.

Halo 2 I'll be waiting for. CS on Xbox I'm skeptical about (I don't think it'll work). I'm not going to pay $49.95 for something I thought was included with the Xbox (online play). The "funny Microsoft ad" won't play. Andeh is an idiot.

i think consoles after snes provide limited control and sensitivity...

comp games selling out to consoles r sad, i doubt theres a wide market for cs on xbox...

i mean wats faster, shooting awp with mouse or with some stick...im pretty sure anyone who wants to play cs already has it

i imagine the rest of the market is a bunch of 12 yr olds who own consoles but havent picked up a multiplayer comp game

Because America is Japan. The Xbox console has sold more than Gamecube. That's "fairly" successful.

I added the "fairly" so fanboys and morons wouldn't attack me. I guess it didn't work, because morons don't know what "fairly" means. Blast!

The X-Box is doing 'allright' in the US its just the rest of the world that its not doing that well.

Its just a shame I live in the UK with its third world stylee broadband access or otherwise I'd get one. Actually I wouldn't but nevermind.

Do you have any numbers? I know it's not doing well in Japan (since it has to be pointed out every single time the Xbox is mentioned, as if Japan controls the universe), but I haven't seen any numbers for the US or Europe. They must exist somewhere.

I havent got any numbers but in Europe the PS2 is outselling both the XBox and GC by far and the GC is outselling the XBox. The XBox did very well in its first week but since they havent released anything remotely good here since it came out, no one seems to be bothered with it anymore.

Haha, lame Valve will go on consoles too?

I bet CSCZ will come out as Xbox special! Hahaha!

I remember times, when Halo was made for PC only.

The winter lineup of titles should fare well for the Xbox. I'll buy XBox Live and probably CSX too. Who knows. I'm sure a better controller will be made to accomodate the FPS games.
