The XBox doesn't suck. I just think it's a waste of money if you already have a good computer. Yay, now you can own two computers!!111

I bought a Gamecube because it wasn't just like buying another computer. I'm playing SSBM and soon Mario and Zelda -- games I wouldn't touch on a PC -- games you will never see turning up as a port on some other system or PC. Then again, if you don't like Mario or Zelda, the Gamecube is basically pointless.

Please tell me that the Gamecube is childish becaues it lacks violence. Please.

besides we all know GTA 3 is one of the best console games ever, and the new one is coming soon!
It's a better PC game -- the PS2 version is prone to hideous slowdowns in spots, and the texturing is quite nicer on the PC, since they decided to stick an obscenely scant amount of memory in the PS2. Load times are friendlier, too (the one thing that irks me most about PS2 titles).

As far as the Xbox simply being a pared-down PC -- play it for a while. There's nothing about the Xbox on the surface that even hints at its heavily modified PC architecture; it feels like a console through and through. Besides, the thing is running on a 733MHz Mobile Celeron with PC133 memory -- how many PCs do you know running that sort of hardware perform remotely like what the Xbox spits out?

It is essentially a PC, but the CPU and GPU aren't being burdened with all the other tasks that typical PC components are - It's a dedicated gaming machine, the PC is not. Hell, given that the basic principle behind the technology is so old, it's a miracle things like Doom 3 are possible.

As an aside, OMG VALEV AND GEARBOXE HAEV SOLD OUT BUY NOT PUTTIN ALL THEIR EGGZ IN ONE BASKTEE! OMG SELLOUTSDS.

yes but in my view the xbox wasnt even fairly successfull thats why i "attacked" you so therefor im not a moron i just have a different view to you. people who dissagree with you are not moron man. come on man just because you say something doesnt make its completely true or right. damn i didnt think you were childish enough (I know your not a child so dont comment on that) to call someone a moron for having a different point of view

I think rze is right, it's selling the least of the three consoles so far but it isn't doing as bad as say the Sega Saturn.

Personally I couldn't imagine using an X-Box controller to play Counter-Strike...and finding it the least bit enjoyable after using a mouse and keyboard for two years.
maybe if the xbox had more than just one popular game it might sell more dont ya think? and as for the controller i might be able to play counter-strike on xbox if the controller actually fitted in my hand properly. I will admit its not doing too bad on the market, but its the worst console for sales etc. i have seen since the saturn. but unlike everyone else i dont buy consoles just for 2 or 3 games. *cough*halo, halo2 and counter-strike*cough* the one thing I find hardest to understand is why would anyone want to play counter-strike on an Xbox? its been out on PC for something like 4 years, im not really sure, but anyone who has had any sort of slight interest in counter-strike has played it on the PC so to be honest I cant really see counter-strike selling too good on Xbox. although it would probably do better than however its going to do if it was on a different console. but thats just my opinion so i dont mind all the xbox lovers disagreeing with me (unlike a certin rze)

xbox has way more than 3 good popular games and the only reason why the xbox is doing fairly good is because microsoft's console is new to the market and they dont have the 3rd party support that ps2 has.

lol bunch of llama fanboys arguing.

If you brought the console fine, good for you, if you didnt and brought its oppositing fine. Why bother arguing which is better? just play the console you have.

$40 dollars for the modem/network-adaptor in addition to installation software, a demo disc, and a slip to receive a free copy of twisted metal black.

$60 dollars for SOCOM and unlimited online play.

Initially, it costs a good amount to get started. How much did you pay just to play haolo? At least $350, what a waste.

yikes CS for xbox...there's an accident waiting to happen. Already there are so many little console kiddies who think that their mad skillz at Bond can kick anyone's butt at any other FPS on any platform...but it'll be funny to watch pc players go vs xbox players online...

xbox controller vs keyboard and mouse? not a chance. Bring it on.

Counter-Strike needs to stay on the PC. Every time in the past when they have tried to port a popular FPS from the PC to consoles (Unreal Tournament, Soldier of Fortune) and there have been some exceptions (Half-Life) but most of the time they end up sucking big time. I hope CSX does horrible so more people will realize that consoles just don't function very well with FPS.

Xbox Live doesn't interest me at the moment, seeing as it's broadband-only and I'm still chugging away on my trusty 56k while waiting for the BT men to install broadband in my area. Ho hum.

I'm pretty excited about CSX though; I can't wait to ditch the freakish Needlers and Plasma Pistols in favour of some proper weaponry.

I don't see how the control in CS for the Xbox is an issue. The Xbox controller is perfect for FPSs (as far as console controllers go) and if Halo pulled it off I don't see why CS can't.

As for Halo being the only reason to get an Xbox, I bought mine for Munch's Oddysee. Abe pwns.

I think me and bond are the only two people that own a gamecube. My friend already has PS2 so I can play Devil May Cry and ICO(every other game I've wanted to play is on another system: Rez, MGS, GTA) and he picks up other major titles as well. I have GCN, GBA(my favorite "console" if you will), and a fast PC with a shit graphics card. I might buy an xbox instead of a graphics card this year and get a graphics card next year. The reason for buying an xbox is because we just got a widescreen HDTV and xbox has alot of widescreen games. Halo would be pretty cool 2 player co-op with it split down the middle. I don't know why but GBA is what is most impressing me. I'm just like, "Ok, I need $400 for the GBA games and I think I'm set....". Of course cube and the 2 other consoles are going through a "second launch" and pretending that there wasn't a complete lack of software the rest of the year. Naturally I'm buying into this.

I do however need a graphics card to match my relatively fast comp(XP 1700 isn't "FAST" anymore, or so I've heard so blow me). I need a graphics card just to play current games like Americas Army so I figure I'll buy a card sometime early next year. I'm not worried about getting a comp that can run Doom III frankly because when watching that pirated video it did not look fun and I don't see any reason to worry about playing one single player game that will be over and done with. I'm more interested about when somebody makes a game using the engine as Penny-arcade put it.

That's not true, Xbox has a set free that covers every single online game. PS2 doesn't, but a lot of PS2 games might be free online (like SOCOM).
MMORPG's haven't been confirmed to be covered by it though we won't know till one actually comes out(PSO also might be a game that is covered by it).

Also, for the love of god don't ask for fucking numbers saying that there have never been numbers for it then when someone gives you them say numbers aren't valid.

Numbers are meaningless on their own. Simply saying "Xbox: 164,000" means absolutely nothing.

Did it mean sales of Xbox consoles? Sales of hardware or software?

Was that the number of units sold so far? Last month? Last week?

                              And where? Japan? Europe? Timbuctoo?

Or maybe it meant the number of transistors within each Xbox circuit, or perhaps the number of atoms in a 1-nanogram chunk of it?

Umm..I dont know if its been corrected yet. But as of last week, GC sold more than Xbox. Xbox is a better platform to launch CS on though.
