I visit CSN about once a day, I saw this post and figured (as a former player of CS - since beta 5.... nonstop until 1.4 came out) I'd throw in my 2 cents.... not like I have anything better to do at the moment.... I don't -regularly- post to the forum, I've maybe posted on 8 or so threads in the past month.... So its not lke I spend all my free time on this.... I'd be playing SoF2 right now, but I'm waiting for someone to show up, and I can't hear him with headphones on.

Why does it make it a lot better? Don't tell me it stops bunnyhopping either because that can be achieved other ways.

SoF2 is fun, but it is no CS. I doubt those 1.5 mil players went to SoF2. Yes I play SoF2, and if it ever gets reliable voice comm, the ability to do inf and de maps (De maps are coming in the patch) at the same time, then it may be a conteneder. It is a fun game.

1.5 million? whered that figure come from? out of a hat?

Heh, last time I checked at any given moment there were around 30,000 people playing CS.... (thats was at the time higher than all other FPS games combined) 1.5 million being %10 is rediculous.... if that were the case, there'd be 15 million people playing CS....

Voice comm is worthless, its implementation in CS is really a joke.... Yeah, would I rather hear A) people shooting at me.. or B) 12 year olds in a pissing contest....... Hmmmm..... it would only be semi-worthwhile if you were able to control every aspect about it (how much (if any) it cuts on the background noise..... and how loud it is) I turned it on, but usually I'd mute people that were using it..... %90 of the people that used it for anything other than yahoo chat were using it to bark orders...... and out of them, maybe %3 actually seemed to know what they were doing.... )

in clan matches.. maybe..... but thats different.

"An object in motion tends to stay in motion. An object ar res ttends to stay at rest..." When you jump, regardless of the stuff your carrying, the motion will keep you going near full speed. Now if you jump like 5-10 times your gonna slow down but not after one or two. I guess I didn't notice the players jumping hurdles when they play, maybe CAUSE THEY DONT. They marely get 2 feet off the ground most of the time.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

"Tends" is incorrect. An object in motion, on this planet, invariably NEVER stays in motion. Gravity makes friction, friction resists movement. Learn what Newton's laws deal with before you quote them.

Energy and momentum are conserved when you jump and land. On the landing, it is impossible for you to have the momentum that you had when you started the jump, you, without a doubt, always lose momentum because some of it goes into the ground. Your movement is converted into [gravitational] potential energy while you're in the air. On the way down/the landing, that potential energy is spent on compression, thermal exchange, and even wind resistance.

In other words: You have no where near your original velocity when you land compared to when you jumped.

That is the physics side. Imagine landing from a four foot drop with 20+ pounds of equipment. Your body would need time to recover from the strain and balance itself.

-----------------My Italicis Is Messed Up for Some reason----------

Oh so I have no idea what Im talking about? Maybe you can set up a pendulum and go check out what Im talking about. Anyway youu are right about alot of stuff but what you didnt say is how long that takes. With a physically fit and high stamina person, they can jump at least 3-4 times without a dramatic speed decrease or motionless time. Now factoring the equipment that turns to about 1-2 or 2-3 times.

Thats all Im saying. You will not have that dramatic speed decrease after one jump like the game has. Now if the jumping delay came after two jumps, that would be more "realistic".

Now remember that I didnt object with the idea of the change but with their excuses. They claim its to make it more realistic but in many ways its more realistic. Remember the characters are not 70 year old women and CAN jump.

Bort, you must play on some pretty crappy servers. The servers I play people use voice comm for a great advantage.

The 1.5 mil comes from a report that 1.5 mil less people D/L'd 1.4 then 1.3. You (or somebody) then said that they are probably playing SoF2.

I don't care what jumping we have in cs because I can play with both.. But in 1.4 the ppl with superior aim have the skill because now they aren't aiming at "bunny hoppers". Meh, I liked 1.3 jumping, but I have just had to get used to 1.4.

Bunny Hopping Has Always Annoyed Me, (I.E. Non Realistic). So 1.4 Was

Easy To Get Used To For Me. I Also Liked 1.3 Jumping, But i'll Live With it

In 1.3 if you had skilled aim, you would still hit the bunnyhoppers no matter how much they might be jumping. In 1.4 the accuracy has been lowered so how is it an easier to hit them even if they are on the ground?

Ok, you've convinced me that bunny hopping can be stopped by other methods, and I admit some of your ideas have merit. But will you admit that the jumping in 1.4 has stopped bunnyhopping? If that was the purpose of the jumping changes, then it has succeeded. Then we can feel free to say that we prefer 1.4 because "It stops bunnyhopping" and you can stop giving people crap for saying that.

You prefer 1.4 over 1.3, but what makes 1.4 better than other solutions that do the same thing and are less restrictive?
