Thats not true... In Singleplayer, your machine has to render draw and animate EVERYTHING... In Multi your machine cares about you and the environment... everything else is dependednt on your internet connection speed.

"I just sent in a bug report myself. Just two hours ago I was playing.. having fun.. and now I start CS:S, click on FIND SERVERS and the screen just turns dark. Now black or anything.. just darker and I still see the image in the back and all the options. FIND SERVERS won't react. Doesn't budge. Everything else works, I can access the options, I can create a server, I can quit, report a bug.. all of it.. just not the server browser

Well, I told them about it and made a screenshot. Suxors."



Just posted that in another forum. Wonder if anyone here has experienced it?

Man... first: there is no "pentium 2 mmx 200". Pentium 2 clocks start at 233 MHz. And no Pentium 2 is called Pentium 2 mmx, because ALL intel processors that came after Pentium´s MMX have the MMX instruction set.



So I must believe you were talking about a Pentium MMX 200MHz. I had an old Pentium 233 MMX coupled with a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP and tried to play CS (1.5) on it. Unplayable. Frame rates of 25/30 with no ppl on screen, when someone showed up the fps would go down to 3-5 fps (maximum).

There was absolutely no need to pick that post apart. As it goes I used to play Half Life (not CS), with a worse rig than that. It was a Pentium MMX 166 MHz. He probably isn't lying. Ass.



Anyway, I hope that they change the crosshair to act more like 1.6, after all, its meant to just be like 1.6 ported to source, so why make guns diabolical to aim after a burst of bullets.

I used to run beta 5.2 on a PII-333 with Xpert@play (3d rage pro). It absolutely crawled.

Let me add something: on that 233mhz mmx pentium with a voodoo 3 3000 agp I had to use those low-poly (box like) models, no decals, smoke grenade quality worst as possible, 16bit, 512x384 resolution, low quality sound, lots of graphic tweaks (ugly as hell), driver tweaks (alpha blending, zbuffer etc tweaked), opengl tweaks (that wickedgl stuff) and the game still played like crap.



Please, shut up.

I've had that happen a couple of times. If you move your mouse up you'll notice it changes to the "resize" type of cursor... Follow that around until it changes to the diagonal resize as if it were in the top right corner of the menu. Then you should be right around where the "X" would be to close it. Click til your screen returns to normal (meaning you closed the invisible browser window) and then click find servers again. That should work.

Look at the polygons that make the light effect whenever you shoot...

That's why it slowdowns on some machines.

You seemed to have missed the point, I was saying that there was absolutely no need to pick the post apart. Its called be pedantic, and contrary to popular belief, it isn't cool.

TO ENABLE SPRAYS make a "downloads" folder in your counter-strike source beta/cstrike folder. Custom sprays still don't work but the Default ones do. Please spread this news on servers so we can all get them to work. Thanks.

Custom sprays do work. I've already seen a fair share of porn sprays today. Hi-res porn sprays. XD

I find it strange the amount of people....not all (Many don't do this)...

who get any kind of error and don't even attempt to figure it out. I have been on the SteamPowered forums, HL Fallout forums and here, of course, and some of the errors are downright silly.



"I can't bring up the console. ~ key doesn't work. Valve sucks".



Yet, it's right there in the options to enable it. They didn't even look in the options area. or...



"I changed my video option while in game and it hung up. It's just sitting there for 20 minutes now. How long should I wait?"



Oh, about 19 minutes less than you have already. Reboot, nimrod!

I kid you not.....I found that post on one of these forums (Steam's I believe) and fell out.



A lot of the posts are legitimate, especially the ones people are having of it crashing. I had odd streaky video smears in spots thruout the map but someone had the same problem and had a fix for it that worked.

It seems many people know little more than how to turn on their computer and start a game program....and these people are helping to test a BETA. Scary.
