Hey, i think it's cool they did an update so quick, and that they addressed some of the current issues. It is still pretty buggy though, and i think that is part of people's issue. Sure, it is a beta, but for any public release there is a quality bar that you want to hit. I'd be way happier if, say, there was no reload animation for half the guns, but there were also no crashes.

It all depends on your view. But, beta or no beta, when my machine is hard locked due to a program, it makes me not a happy camper.

He never gave a date for HL2 to go live, so why do you give a shit when some of the content is going to preload?
Dude, so hostile.... It will load when it does, and the rest of the world will have to wait hours and hours for us ATI Coupon holders to play it first, sucks for the rest of you If that happened, only about I think good, 1000 people would be able to beta test it, yes no more laggage But yeah, update nice stuff, new map tomorrow, would be nice... But yeah for CS:S atleast

Hey, jackasses who are complaining about "the crash to desktop bug" not being fixed:

        1) Has it occurred to you that there might be more than one bug that cause these crashes?

        2) Has it occurred to you that they might be difficult bugs to fix, and that they could take some time?

        3) Aren't some fixes better than none?

Since this update, my hud says I have 190 ammo for my m4...and 1009 for my scout... then it crashed.

              i have a laptop. 64mb ati mobility (9000?). 512 ram. 2 ghz cpu.

is it worth it to buy cs:cz, so that i can jump on this cs:s bandwagon? (i have some money to burn)

in other words, will i have computer problems or awful performance? i've read a lot of people complaining about crashes and inability to play, and i'm afraid that i will experience the same things because ati doesn't support driver updates for laptop cards (this may or may not matter since cs:s min requirement is dx 7?). it is possible all the people experiencing problems are the vocal minority while everyone else is playing...

              whats the word?

Hey all in order to get the sprays to show go into steam/steamapps/youremail/counter-strike source beta/cstrike/ and create a folder and name it downloads and it should allow you to see the sprays ingame

                    Still no sprays? Gay shit.
No kidding, it can't be that difficult making it so the folder "downloads" appears in your cstrike folder.

start up bugs should have been fixed in the alpha, not the beta
                      2) Has it occurred to you that they might be difficult bugs to fix, and that they could take some time?
how long has source engine been in dev? if this is simply a cs:s mod bug, then it shouldn't be extremely difficult to fix.
                      3) Aren't some fixes better than none?
have you seen the changelog? if they don't notice sv_pauseable is set to 1 by default by now, what other bugs have they overlooked?

Okay people. Getting sprays working is really freaking easy, for those that don't know.

Go to the directory steam/steamapps/(your email)/counter-strike source beta/cstrike/, and create a directory named "downloads". That's it!

As for creating sprays, here is a good tutorial. Please be responsible with your sprays though--nobody needs a spray bigger than 512x512, mkay? You wouldn't be able to see the detail anyway. ^_-

Nice, an update already :). Though, hopefully they focus on optimizing/tweaking the netcode now. Hell, if it were required, I'd give up the physics altogether just to eliminate the delayed registering of bullet impacts. Also, if you try making jerky walk/run movements (like strafing side to side very fast), or switching from run to walk/duck, you'll notice a sort of lag that pulls you back to you're immediate previous position. Kinda annoying considering fast movements like these are a big part of CS as we know it.

I still think people are going to gradually move back to CS 1.6 after CS:S's release. It's sad, but I think it's just the way things work. Be it a new game, or an expansion to CS, people always come back to it.

The original build of CS must be doing great then.
