To all of the people going out there doing their so called "complaining", keep it up. Counter-Strike was fun. Now all the n00bs are owning, and the people with skill are dying. Like I said today, if i wanted realism to perfection I'd go play paintball. Let's bring back Counter-Strike to the gaming community, you all can not say this topic is not worth looking into either considering so many people are talking about all day in the servers and now on a lot of webpages. I wrote gooseman, you think that will make a difference? ..... Yeah probably not, but I bet email upon email would. BTW why are the Counter-strike.net forums closed? I do not know how long they have been down for, but if it just went down that seems a little odd. Too much negative response anticipated.

    -------

b.? used to be l337 before his legs got broken every time he jumped.

To ThePoint, how are they going to recognize if the fanbase drops off? The only gage is CS retail being bought. I think it is jaded to believe that there is no way this god awful change can be reverted. I do not think I will ever stop "complaining", I did it all day in the servers today, I will do it all tomorrow, I will do it in all the matches I participate in, and all the forums to go to. Counter-Strike is for us not for the n00bies who could not handle me hitting the space bar a few extra times than them.

I can't think of a great analogy, but for those of you who haven't been playing CS for a while, here is what changing the jumping is like to an experienced player.

Take a baseball player that is right handed and hits 80 homeruns a season. Then make him bat left handed.

As opposed to the minor TWEAKS and CHANGES that CS used to make, which would be.

Give the baseball player a different bat to use.

I just don't think many of you people who haven't been playing CS very long grasp the situation.

You know what guys? I seriously didn't sign on to be on the receiving end of your flaming bullshit.

I have not put my opinions anywhere on the page except on the comments pages. Are you flaming Xsreality for their obvious bias? Matt Huey for his adjectives with an obvious negative connotation?

No, you're flaming me. Someone who has invested years to this game and its community. Okay. All because I asked non-fans to stop visiting a fansite.

You guys need someone to flame. I suck up to Valve. E-mail me. Tell me how CS 1.4 is bad and how I'm stupid and gay. Thanks, go ahead.

CS retail has been changed many times. At no time was their an agreement on the retail package stating that CS would never change. You can call it a de facto agreement all you want, your argument makes no sense. HL didn't ship with an SDK or mod support. It was upgraded to add mod support, thus birthing CS. CS shouldn't even have been made by your standards.

Valve does not have creative control over Counter-Strike. The jumping decision was "ordered" by the CS team. I know this for absolute fact. Valve would not implement this if they didn't have to. The point is, this is how Gooseman and cliffe want it.

            cl_forwardspeed wasn't a problem.

The truth is that only reason people who don't like these skills are those who blame them for thier own poor performance. They are intimidated by the skill of others and instead of learning those skills, they would rather see the game weakened. These are the same people that believe that every elite player is cheating, they have no concept of the skill-level that is humanly possible. So let's continue to remove skills from the game until it is no fun at all, except to those who would be happy playing a 2D scroller on an Atari.
The truth? What's your survey based on?

Tell me, why is it only the people who dislike the changes are telling the truth? For some reason, I seem to be supporting a Valve conspiracy. I also am not good at CS. Why? Because I'm not the one complaining because I can't adapt.

You claim you're good at CS? CS is now at version 1.4. There is no other CS.

I remember when Gooseman took the scoreboard out of CS. He had to put it back because people flamed him about it. Do you think anything would happen like that again....like changing/tweaking the jumping?
No. Valve is a faceless corporation. No obligation.

            And finally:

If anybody that has played religiously for the past 2 years comes forward and says that removing jumping from CS is a step in the right direction, I'll shut my mouth.
I have been playing since before BETA 1 was publically released. Some time in May, that will be 3 years. That is longer than 99.9% of the community. I was in a community of about 40-50 at the time. I am in the (assuming 2 million people play CS as valve claims and everyone who had this copy is still playing) 0.0025% minority of CS players.

Removing jumping is a step in the right direction for Counter-Strike.

Are you going to stick to your promise?

Well I have no problem with 1.4. I can play just like i did befor except I cant jump as much. I mean come on, its not that different. I have been playing since beta 4 and if I can get used to 1.4 so quick then so can all of you. Oh and If i were you I wouldnt waste my time complaining to Seirra. cause knowing them, they will just ignore it all and continue to fix minor bug and whatnot. They aint gonna put then bunnyhop back in so lets face it. Is it really worth complaining?

For those who complain about the lag from the bodies then check your fps. If you play in clan matches, which most use fade to black, you would have already noticed that the bodies stayed the entire round. So for me this wasn't such a big deal, just reminded me of clan matches.

Jumping is fine with me. I was getting tired of watching top clans hop like rabbits up and down the map in HLTV and demos. Also didn't it piss you off when you got gheyed by some character jumping around with a pistol head shoting people? I know even when I did it I thought it was stupid but I did it only cause it gave me an advantage.

"There are way to many headshots!"

Now in 1.3 I would get pissed about random head shots which aren't "earned" and also when I'm aiming at a guys head yet I'm not getting a headshot. Now with 1.4 I notice when I aim at the head I get a headshot almost every time and also with the new first person view I notice allot of headshots people are getting their cross hair would go right over the guys head. I have seen some random ones but more ones that look like skilled shots or just a lucky noob who got his aimer on the guys head.

Walking is slower but this doesn't mean you cant sneak... Also for who ever said strategies and tactics are no longer useful that is total bs. In a 15 on 15 game tactics and strategies aren't as useful because there is so many people and so little coordination. As for 5x5 matches, heh... you better have strategies...

Lastly someone said how this game has nothing to do with real life... Do realize that this game is based off real life. The guns the environment, the situations, think about it.

Your poll pretty much supports the claim so far about the jumping. Scoreboard was taken out, because the CS team wanted it gone. But community wanted back, so it came back. While some people may not be approaching it the right way. After dedicating a part of their days to mastering a game and then being screwed over cause some people whined about, does not seem logical. Also earlier, even though I am not going back to quote you, rizzuh, you said CS updates are made according to the feedback from gamers. Last post, you said what the CS team wants? Are we to believe that if enough people brought it up as a problem, it would not be fixed. That seems inconceivable. Although Valve has no way of knowing this, I support CS I recommend anyone with a computer to buy half life or cs retail to play it. If the CS team were not to care, than me and perhaps many others would drop all support. Lastly, you can't play this game the right way anymore. Sure, you can camp and pick off people, but gone are the high speed games that were fun. Might as well stick the timer up to 15 minutes expand the map tremendously, and slow down the players even more. Take all aspect of a computer game that is fast paced and out of it fun. Rizzuh, seriously, I am not saying you are sold out to Valve or whatever, but you are the exception to what I have been hearing from a great deal of members of the CS gaming community.

right at the time when u land the ground press crouch

u will never a louder sound of footstep when u land

if u don't hear it that means u didn't make it

u won't be slow down that much

Only thing I don't like in CS is the fact that in certain spots on maps you can only see part of the enemy but he has a full view of you and can see even more.

Example. on dust as a ct players often stand on the walkway up above across from the bridge and shoot down at the T's as they come from under the bridge. Now if a t is back by the green crates he has a complete view of the CTs heads and he can also see above them. But the problem is the CT's can only see the T's mid section and his legs. now to me this seems totally wrong. I know if someone can look me in the eyes I can look them right back in their eyes.
I personally hate playing as the CT's as I personally think there M4 is a way to over-used and slightly more accurate than it should be, making it the perfect lamer weapon. Come on you must have played a game (almost every game for me) where every CT on the game is using an M4. Doesnt that make it seem a little over-used and somewhat abused? For this I never play as CT's

Why worry about jumping, when cheating runs rampant? Seems less pertinent to me. Instead lets screw the players who over the years learned how to play a game and be considered good and never hacked, and make everyone equal. Jesus that sounds like a plan from a bunch of democrats.

I never said CS patches were made according to gamers. Gamers are not game designers.

I understand that you're unhappy with the game, but your protest probably won't hold out. More power to you if jumping is added, but you're not going to make everyone go for jumping by calling them "nub" or saying they're "fags" (not you specifically, just the majority of people who have pronounced CS as dead).

Miller, aka ksharp, wants a return to BETA 5.2? Valve could do it, but they never will. Ksharp liked the speed, but CS is simply not about speed. The removal of jumping just goes to prove it.

And of course I'm the exception. People happy with CS 1.4 aren't going to make "happy" petitions or create #cs_is_alive. If I'm in the minority then I am content with that. The majority of CS players don't use voice comm or teamplay. Am I to stop using those?

I hope the jumping decision holds ground. We can remove a lot of the players who simply act childish using Darwinism. If some legit CS fans get cut in the mix, it's their loss.

I continue to enjoy CS and I back gameplay decisions that support teamplay, slow down the game from a frantic pace, and help create the vision that Goose and cliffe originally had for the game.

I like how you decide what is "right" based on your set of standards, yet the CS team can't do that for their own game.

                          Very funny, you chaps are.

Hey perhaps I'm missing something but haven't we been over all this countless times before? While I do realize these are comments pages and therefore given to opinion, we seem to be rehashing the same opinions repeatedly with no desire to end the debate.

In my humble opinion the kind of arguing that's been going on about 1.4 ever since the first news that they were changing jumping has proved fruitless and is now, for many, turning into an excuse to bitch and whine, not legitamately discuss. I've seen more posts than I can count saying something to the effect of "CS sucks now, I'm quitting."

Well thanks for sharing that valuable bit of info.

For those of you making the effort to rationally and maturely present your opinions and debate with others, I for one am thankful for your patience. But considering that now 1.4 is a reality, instead of constantly rehashing the same opinions as we've been doing for the past several months perhaps we can move forward towards some sort of resolution instead of using our time for what is deteriorating into flaming and bitching.

By the way, I will admit that walking speed is too slow. The default walking speed, without any exploitation or silliness, should be raised a bit.

Ok, I've only been playing since the very end of 1.1, so my opinion may not count for much, but this is what I think.

                                New hitboxes = thumbs up

                                New weapon behaviors = good

slower walking = bearable, even tho I loved stealth

jumping = the only thing that really bugs me; it would be nice if you could get at least one jump off without being hindered, and that's my bottom line, just ONE normal jump, it doesn't seem that much to ask for, does it?

I totally applaud Valve on their integration of HLTV into the spectator mode, it's fabulous, and as so many ppl have mentioned, it's never been more fun to be dead. Yes, we'll all adapt to the new style, but if the goal of the jumping thing is to make it more realistic, I dunno about you, but I can make one jump without breaking stride, and I'm as unfit as they come, but hey, that's just me.

One normal, un affected jump, that's all I ask...
