    Here's the deal.

Many people are going to complain about the changes that were implemented into 1.4, and namely for one reason. Much more of the game requires skill now. Aim is more essential than it was before and even though there is still randomness applied when you're shooting, the hitboxes have been altered to be more accurate.

People are complaining right now because they have lost something of their "evasion" "technique" that was jumping with mp5/pistols. Jumping around and shooting someone in the head didn't prove anything but your ability to exploit the hitboxes as they did *not* change when you jumped off the ground even though your body was visibly in a different spot.

Sure, it's harder to shoot someone when they're jumping, but it requires no skill to fly around like some kind of deranged idiot. I personally don't like the realism crusade. I could care less if a video game was realistic or not. If I wanted realism, I'd go outside.

Yes, this is a video game. No, they're not going to change anything from their new update. They beta tested for many months and have seen the pros/cons of this jumping and walking thing.

My view on what it *should* be like? Well, first jump shouldn't make you act like you got your leg sawed off. It should disable you slightly, but not to the degree that it does at the moment. Verdict? I can live with it, don't change it.

"Speed" Walking. This was a bug, using the +movedown command instead of your +speed button is using the in game commands against what they are supposed to be used as. Verdict? I can live with it, don't change it.

AWP Changes. Overall, I've never had a problem with the AWP. This kind of bundles in with the Quick Weapon Switch issue as well, which was a little out of whack in the first place, there should be a little delay (which there is now) between switches of weapons. Verdict? I can live with it, don't change it.

I have played CS1.4 for about two months now in beta and the current release. The state that it is in right now was actually made from ideas from the community of beta testers and specific players that they asked for input from. Please don't go cry and sign petitions because honestly you're wasting your breath. No one is going to change anything after putting 4 months of work into the final release. If you were so worried about changes that were going to be implemented, you should have definitely downloaded the beta when you had the chance and put your two cents in.

Final word : Play the game. Live with it. Don't play if you don't like it. Don't try to change the world because you haven't gotten used to it in the first 24 hours since release.

    Thanks.

Not even just speed walking, but NORMAL walk speed wasn't this slow!

I like the jumping being removed though.

This speed is like...when you used to hold the "use" key and try to walk.

Im all for MOST of the changes made to 1.4, but the fact is that the adaptations made before were for the most part minor. Was anyone complaining about the gameplay in 1.3? Only a few. Now half the ppl in mIRC have "Retired" after their names and head players such as ksharp have expressed their strong dislike to the alterations. The walking and jumping are things that should have been left alone....or a slow-down after maybe 2-4 jumps, not after 1 FREAKIN JUMP! Sorry but i think it was a bad move by valve :_(

I have nothing to back this up, but I know you guys have read this before.

Gooseman made this game, correct. Yes.

I read about the time of 1.1 that Gooseman doesn't really work on CS much, and that the VALVe team took it over. Gooseman also made this game the way he wanted it, so I'm guessing that since the jumping hasn't been changed through all of his releases, he really didn't want it changed?

What gives VALVe the right to go ahead and change jumping, and why did they do it in the first place? To fix bunnyhopping.

Read the changelog in hl1108, it says "removed bunnyhopping". Um..wait...so they messed up the jumping to remove something that's already gone? Why is jumping over and over again a bad thing? Oh maybe because you don't make a sound if you do it right, I see.. So valve couldn't sit down and figure out another way to fix this problem, so they just said "screw it lets just take it all out". Nice.

Not static, but please, this isn't CS.

            Added @ [time="1019794796"]

All the changes I agree with.....EXCEPT the movement changes. I never exploited a bug....I just jumped slow enough to the point where i had no foot steps. Now, if you arent HOLDING the walk button you have crazy footsteps.

"This speed is like...when you used to hold the "use" key and try to walk."

... Hardly. It's just slightly slower than normal walk speed before. This wasn't done to totally screw people out of being able to walk, it was done to make Counter-Strike more of a team game that requires fast reaction time to back up your teammates. Think about it for a minute and you'll see what I'm talking about.

"What gives VALVe the right to go ahead and change jumping, and why did they do it in the first place? To fix bunnyhopping."

... Sort of. They changed jumping because they had gotten thousands of emails from users that complained of the "jumping headshot syndrome". They changed it because the voice of the community wanted to have it changed.

"Now half the ppl in mIRC have "Retired" after their names and head players such as ksharp have expressed their strong dislike to the alterations."

... ksharp isn't going to quit cs over a few changes in the mod. He's seen plenty of them over his career and he's not going to stop now. He's won money doing this for God's sake, and has a definate chance to do so again in the future with his current team. I highly doubt that he's going to quit over this.

Best post on this topic period. As with 1.3, I have bound this phrase to f2, "If 1.4 sucks so much, why do you play it?". CS is FREE. If you don't play you arn't out any money.

Oh, and by the way....the jumping thing was something Gooseman has wanted to do for a while. So don't go ripping on Valve.

I'm sorry but I don't think VALVe changed the jumping because the people wanted it changed. I really don't see thousand of people e-mailing valve saying, "listen..you should really take jumping out of cs, it's just not fair to us newbs."

I wonder if this type of jumping will be in CZ?

Maybe VALVe screwed CS intentionally so people will say "screw dis i'm gonna go buy CZ so I can jump again.."...hmmmm.. :)

No but you stated that many other people were retiring over the fact that ksharp and other big names are expressing dislike with the new modifications.

My view is that if people are going to quit CS over some modifications that they haven't gotten used to in 24 hours then they should leave as quickly as possible because obviously they are seriously impatient.

They arent retiring because ksharp dont like the changes....they are retiring because THEY dont like the changes. How did you get that out of what i said? =\

Sorry, I must have misread what you were trying to convey. The argument is moot though. In the end, the real question is:

What are people going to think in a week after they have played it 50+ hours?

I honestly think you will be surprised.

Omg haren that is actually very true. People bought the game and then it is completly changed on them? What do they do if the dont like it? They PAID for a game they thought would remain basically the same. This was not the case....what about those people?

sds is right. SOOO many people are leaving the game because of 1.4. When was the last update where this has happened to this extent? They made a bad decision by messing with things IMHO.

Please don't say "oh you dont love CS if you can't handle the changes." If I didn't love this game, I wouldn't spend my time posting on this website. I also wouldn't spend a lot of my time playing this game when I should be spending 40 hours a week studying.
