Eh good idea but it seems as though 1.4 has disabled CD...something with the new anti-cheat or whatever. CD loads up fine on the server but it won't recognize the CD clients and thinks you're not running it at all. Hopefully, when Valve's thingie gets released next week (I think) we won't have to worry 'bout CD.



On the good side of things, CSGuard still works fine. yay.

Because of the inability to jump around quickly, many of the weapons have become almost useless. For example: the pump shotgun. Because of it's inabilty to fire multiple shells at once, you are left vulnerable to enemy fire and can't do anything about it. At least before the jumping change, you could hop around and hope not to get killed, but now it's just rediculous. Also, the forced weapon animation is a problem. Now snipers can't quickly pull out their pistol when an enemy surprises them at close range. The speed walking was a nice thing, but I'm sure most of us can live without it. I think the best solution to this all is to create new server variable that allows server admins to turn on or off many of these features. If not, I'm sure many of the veterens will lose interest and move onto another mod or game. DoD seems to be becoming very popular.

I praise PB for starting the anti-cheat movement and i am disguested that valve turned down pb, even after they offered to work for free.

I remember when Gooseman took the scoreboard out of CS. He had to put it back because people flamed him about it. Do you think anything would happen like that again....like changing/tweaking the jumping?

To the people saying that complaining about the game is not going to get anything done, that is ridiculous. You have stated how the updates all came as feedback from the CS community this is feedback from the CS community jumping is what made the game Counter-Strike not DoD. Stop telling people to complain, I have only been playing for a year and a half but I have the right to go into any forum I want and write my opinion on the problems that have arisen with this game as due to the release of 1.4. If what you are saying is true, that Valve is really interested in feedback from the community than you should be encouraging more people to state their problems with Counter-Strike than to tell them to deal with the changes. Some of us went looking for 1.4 and could not find a way to download the beta. Sorry, I looked for a little bit and couldn't find it, I didn't have a chance to voice my opinion, and now I am trying to have what was messed up fixed. Don't tell me that this vote does not matter, this vote is important as well as changes. You know the reason the vote is probably low because people like you are saying it does not matter, everyone I have ran into today has complained about the update, that would be about a good 200 people that wanted to do something they just didn't know what. Add that to the many people that play elsewhere who just do not know how to rectify the situation, and you are looking at a lot more backing than what you think. You have been on the side of the dictators at Valve since the 1.4beta started. I'm just tired of you whining about us because we express our loathe for 1.4, then you post that little blurb today telling us to get lost if we don't like 1.4 because you are an CS community reporter. Lies. You report your views only in this case. Very democratic of you, heh.



A majority of CS players agree that 1.4 is a weakened version of CS because of the removal of two important skills: sneaking and repeat-jumping.



The simple solution to this disagreement would be to make 1.3 jumping and walking a server-side option, then the community you claim to be representing could decide for themselves. But Valve and Rizzuh have instead decided that ramming their version of "fun" down the throats of 1.5 million CS players is morally correct. I find that disturbing. It reeks of elitist dictatorship.

Rizzuh, fast-walking is NOT a bug or a hack. It is a client-side variable. Using "cl_forwardspeed" is as simple as setting your "rate" or "cl_cmdrate." Are those bugs that are being exploited Rizzuh? NO, they are not.



You are incapable of objective/logical thought, so I don't really expect you to agree (see my previous post).



The truth is that the only people who don't like these skills are those who blame them for thier own poor performance. They are intimidated by the skill of others and instead of learning those skills, they would rather see the game weakened. These are the same people who believe that every elite player is cheating, they have no concept of the skill-level that is humanly possible. So let's continue to remove skills from the game until it is no fun at all, except to those who would be happy playing a 2D scroller on an Atari.

Many of you will flame me for this. But i think 1.4 has really made many pr0s/elites of cs, the clans, and the veterans digusted.



The jumping in 1.3 was a little bit overused. But i expected at least TWO quick jumps to be allowed in 1.4 before a slow down.



Maybe I can live with the quick jumping, but what's worst, is the accuracy of pistols such as Deagle and USP. These pistols have no accuracy unless you stop for a second. This means in Medium range combat, your forced to stop (walk/courch), thus your going to get killed by some n00b with a mp5.



Why did they change the accuracy of pistols when people are just strafing and running? I can understand not letting people jump and get HS, but this is getting out of hand.



Many of you will boo me for this, but i think Valve just want to give CS a smaller learning curve to noobies. It's not a bad idea, but it's terrible for people who have been playing for a long time. Now their skills are half gone (to some degree). I will still play 1.4 regardless (when i get it working at my home computer, hehe). But CS will probably never be as fun/fast as it used to be.

If you dont like the changes voice your opinions intelligentally. It wouldnt be the first time a change has been reverted. While many major changes have been left over the versions it wouldnt be the first time a quick small update poped up to correct a "bug" in the update. In the 7.0 series the rifles got nerfed to a ludicrous level and the mp5 basically became the only weapon used. However the change was modified ashort time later after alot of uproar. While every version has a group that says it sucks no matter what it doesnt make a change any moreor less drastic. I remeber not playing cs till version 1.0 after that change because It was to much.



What people need to realize is if they dont like a change they need to not play the game. If you play the game your giving valve what they want. How do you expect to get a change reverted if you dont do somthing to show them that the change was bad. Letters wont just cut it, there a developer and they get letters everyday about how bad a feature is or a problem that a particular person doesnt like. Why would they care if you dont like it if you still play it. You have to change the numbers to get their attention. If the cs userbase appeared to dropp off a little they would change their positions. It doesnt have to be half the community just enough to take notice.



Dont inadvertently support a product that you unhappy with. If you think the movies are crap, DONT WATCH THEM. THe same goes for games.
