Yeah, that acne drug is bad...I took something similar to Accutane, its called Rocatane... This drug is a depressent. Makes one feel less of themselves. I took Rocatane to 2 years and those 2 years of my life was HELL, although it did cleared up my skin problem.

rizzuh is right as well as darkmenace. rizzuh is right because yes, even though it may sound terrible, medicine can save countless lives by having a few die. but darkmenace is right in the fact that this was just an acne drug. that many people shouldnt have died so peoples skin could be clearer. thats not somehting worth anyone dying over

OK, I have recently gone on Accutane and feel the need to set straight some things before everyone lets emotions overcome reason. First off, it has in the past year been scientifically proven that Accutane does not cause depression. The only sever side effect is birth defects in the babies of pregnant women who use it. There are millions of warning all over the packaging, and there are several forms and brochures you have to read and sign to get on the drug. In fact, the suicide rate among Accutane users is a fair bit LOWER than that of the general population.



What Accutane is, is a chemically modified form of Vitamin A. They are not "pumping teeneagers full of hormones" as you might like to think. It was tested for a long period of time before its release to the market. "Those bastards at the FDA" are not to blame for Justin's suicide much as the manufacture also isn't. There is no "clear link" between Accutane and suicide. It is in fact far more clear that it is not a depressent. I have researched this rigourously for 2 months, talked to several professionals in the field, some who prescribe it and some who dont, and every single bit of evidence points to the fact that Accutane has been blamed for a lot of things it didn't deserve. If you would like to see some of the resources I used in my own research, I will gladly post references.



Please open your eye before pointing fingers. It was a tragic event to lose such a great guy, but as much as people don't want to believe it, Accutane is not at fault. Thank you.

Originally when NBC came out to the house they wanted to some sort of tie-in with Counter-Strike. They had some pictures of the HL:CS box and some video of me playing CS, mainly to show that he had things going in his favor, but they ended up cutting that out, in addition to most of the interview with my mother and I.



For me, I don't think accutane actually causes suicide, but from friends of mine that I have talked to who have taken it, looking back they notice changes in themselves at about the same time they started taking it, giving them a different outlook on life, a much bleaker one sadly. But of course, this doesn't happen to everyone.

Huh, that's interesting that a media orginization didn't jump all over the chance to show "the results of video game violence."



I am not sure how to explain that, but I know that for the vast, vast majority of people (including myself, as I have also had a recent bout with depression and thoughts of suicide), Accutane acts as a source of happiness. My acne (which was partially the result of my anti-depressent medication, go figure), has been getting better and better. This has been such a great thing in my life, while at the same time I have had no feelings of depression at all, despite my history of it. But like you said and as common sense can dictate, any type of chemical that the body ingests can not and will not act exaclty the same in every person who encounters it.

#26: In short, yes, it is perfectly alright. That is the way society works. The good of the majority outwiegh the few. We don't stop driving cars even though it kills tens of thoasands of people every year. We don't stop selling alcohol. We don't stop selling tobacco. We don't do any number of things that could save people's lives. Certainly on that scale Accutane ranks rather low, both in numbers and the ratio of deaths to normal users. The problem is that people get themselves so worked up over a single case that they lose sight of the big picture, and what is rational. How about video games? Many people would say video games are responsible for just as many deaths as accutane. So should we stop playing video games?

If it isn't then stop driving your car, stop everyone from drinking, smoking, or taking part in anything that is the least bit dangerous. Everything we do in life has SOME chance of killing us. I could be sun bathing and a meteor could come down and kill me right then. Is that likely? NO, that's why people still sunbathe. In the same way, Accutane users have decided that it is worth the minimal risk of suicide to make their life better. Did you ever think that perhaps those taking accutane are already depressed about having acne? They blame everything on the acne, and then when it gets taken away, they no longer have that excuse and get even more depressed...

#35 When I was a teenager I took it. I noticed absolutely no change. Lets not underestimate the powers of suggestion as well as coincidence. When someone kills themselves, the first thing everyone asks is WHY. Why didn't we see it? Why did they do it? What did I do wrong? etc. etc. It is very hard to except that someone would want to kill themselves, especially if you are someone close to them. Blaming it on something they were taking is an easy way to avoid that.

I want to know if this Accutane makes you do things you wouldn't normally, like commit suicide. Can you not control yourself while on this or does it take hold of you and make you kill yourself... it may seem like a stupid question but I'm serious. I want those that know for sure to reply - none of the guess work please.
