pasted this from another forum, thought it was pretty good..
I don't understand how people can back their complaints about 'jumpers' with the argument of 'it's not realism'.

Are any of these true to realism?

    1. guns sticking out through doors

    2. body parts sticking out through walls

    3. m4 silencer is always on when spec'ing someone with m4

    4. stand on a grenade, watch it explode, and run away

    5. kill people by shooting them several times in the foot, arm, leg, etc

    6. boxes/walls can be shot an infinite amount of times with no visual damage

    7. l337 crew wears their shades even at night and in dark places?

    8. can't turn radio off

    9. cts can't pick up the bomb

    10. deagle has far too much accuracy at medium to long distance

    11. flashbangs - i see the flash, where's the bang?

    12. people standing on other peoples' heads (heads, not shoulders)

    13. if i only have a pistol and my foot touches a gun on the ground, that gun automatically appears in my hands. Hell, for the sake of realism, let's make it so you have to hit a key to pick a weapon up. Afterall, there is a key for dropping a weapon. Full animation will be expected. I want my figure to kneel down, lay down his weapon, and pick up the other one. The whole process would take at least 1 full second.

    14. scenario: i have 100$ after buying all my weapons/ammo/equipment, etc. You have 5,000$ after buying all your weapons/ammo/equipment, etc. I wind up killing you. I can take your weapon, but I cannot take your money. Why?

    15. several seconds after someone dies, where does their body go?

I could go on, but I've made my point.

Just because you don't see jumping during gunfights on tv and in the movies doesn't mean it's not possible. You want realism? Give me the option to kick someone in the nuts, stick my thumb in their eye, or beat about their skull with my ak if i feel like it. THAT, my friends, is realism - not staring at a bomb on the ground with my thumb up my a**.

    I agree with $pazmatazz:

All they have to do is make accuracy completely horrible while you're jumping. I'm talking, "jump + shooting awp" style accuracy, cause that's incredibly bad. That way you can jump around to avoid awpers but it's not gonna do you much good if you're in a firefight.
I had put something about jumping awp style accuracy in a prior post but it dissapeared. So I figured this guys post would do. :)

I think getting rid of Bunny hopping is going to be the best thing they could have done to CS.

I think it's better to make the system such that you slow down after a couple of jumps. 1 or 2 jumps shouldn't affect you. This way we get rid of the DM whore bunnies that do nothing but jump (as if they were playing Quake), and the gameplay isn't affected to much for "normal" players who use jumping every now & then.

I see some people claiming most CS players want bunnyjumping in CS. Well, I can tell those people that if that is the case, which I strongly doubt b.t.w., it is the opinion of players that came from DM games like Q2 & Q3 etc that started playing CS much later then the early beta players. Because back in those early beta days, bunnyhopping wasn't even an issue. It became one when "you" guys joined the fun. I'm glad to see the CS team sticks with their own views, and doesn't give in to those bunnies who think they own the almost 3 year old CS which they have been playing for maybe 1 year now.. For "real" CS players constant bunnyhopping is lame, gay or whatever you want to call it..

So I agree partly with #45. Partly because getting rid of the cheats is my main concern.

nothin like the beta days...ahh :)

don't agree with above the above btw, anyone that plays CS is a cs'er, not a q3'er imo :). There is no 'them and us', they're both cool games in their own way.

i think everyone is over-reacting a lot to be honest, you haven't even played 1.4 yet, so i don't feel it's fair to comment this harshly on it.

also, if you can only avoid an AWP'er by jumping like a rabbit (not a human, a rabbit) then you are not a very good player AT ALL.

if you love CS for what it is, being CS, then you will adapt, just as everyone always has to each update, many people hated the "new" netcode when it was changed in beta 6.5, but the true players just stuck their heads down and adapted, and have come out the better for it mostly, and i can't think that a little thing like jumping would be more devestating to the game than actually changing the way bullets register and how you have to aim.

Well it isn't just jumping that they slow you up on, its falling certain distances. Falling any sort of distance slows you up just a bit for small ones, and the larger the drop the more it slows you down...This is as real as it gets...whenever I fall 10ft I don't automatically start running, it takes me a few seconds to adjust [i.e. let my knees recover] and then continue running. Personally, I think this is the BEST update to counter-strike as of yet. Oh and "Steam" is a 'pure server' type deal. Where you have what the server has therefore eliminating cheats. The only cheat type to crop up will be external programs messing with how you look/see. The spectator modes have been revamped, they're bitchin now.

I can't wait for 1.4 in the way it's described, STEAM should be a great cheat deterant, along with 1st person cam when dead, cheats will be spotted a LOT easier without the need of admins and HLTV (which would often scare the cheater away when they see an HLTV connect to the server)

fixed hitboxes.... great, even though they were meant to be "fully" fixed in 1.3, although they aren't, so hopefully they're being true to their word this time around.

                    Slowed jumping is good

                    Altered Recoil is nice

Bodies that stay will be interesting

                    Spec mode will rock.

So you're saying if you cant have it all dont have it at all? CS is not suppose to be 100% realistic, but the right balance of gameplay and realism makes for an awsome team game. Hindering jumping can only help this.

The only thing constant jumping adds to CS is that it makes it much more luck. As for needing to jump against AWPers, play any decent sniper and you will quickly find that jumping seals your death. AWPers can aim for where you are going to land and pretty much hit you 100%.

                          SweetCa

FOR STUPID PEOPLE THIS IS EXPLANATION:WHEN YOU DODGE I DONT KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING. WHEN YOU JUMP I CAN PRETTY MUCH PREDICT WHERE YOU WILL LAND.

BEFORE YOU RESPOND AND MAKE AN ASS OF YOURSELF COME TO

129:62:28:119:27016. THIS IS A 24/7 AWP MAP AND IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE DUMBASSES THAT JUMPS THEN YOU ARE FOOKED. TIME FOR ALL YOU GD NOOBS TO LEARN THIS.

Realism is whats killing cs this jumping problem is obviously going to lag the game the guys body's lying around a round (i like that) seeing yourself die (i like that) but ANYTHING THAT MAKES THE GAME SLOWER

OR MORE CAMPER INDUCED IS GOING TO RUIN THE GAME!

stop campers now fight against changing the jump ability

stop whiners now keep a model lock outr of cs

this game was cool back in B-5.2 B-6.1 when it was all about playing the game trying to rescue the hostages plant the bomb, two worst versions of CS B-6.5 CS-1.3

                              Jumping

When u jump ur speed is halfed and if you continue to jump ull not get very far. This type of jumping is similar to MOH:AA, thi will prevent those fools that jump from one side of the map to the other. Jumping will now be more to get on top of an object or dodge bullets.
Mm ok .. jumping in MOH:AA isen't the worst thing that could happen, MOH:AA is a very good game ..

But oh well .. we'll just have to wait and see .. :) .. there's always some whining about every final, there were also whining in the beta's .. so :> im sure we're going to have fight over cs1.5 ..

                              GG ppl? ..

Kay now, everyone has mostly had their say about the jumping thing, so i wont bother. What i'd like to know more about is the so-called 'new' features:

"The bodies now STAY when shot for the duration of the round"

Doesnt that already happen with forcechasecam2/mp_fadetoblack?

"Lastly, they have integrated the spec cam and 1st person view into the dead viewing options which is really cool"

doesnt that ALSO happen with forcechasecam2 turned on? or do they mean that we get to alternate between other LIVING players' views when we're dead?

                                just askin...
