In theory, yes it could be used in that manner. However it is unlikely that Ritual would make the footsteps or gunshots louder in decibel from their original counterparts just so they could ensure balance between the two.

And if one chose to not use the newer, cz models and sounds, would that in turn make his older PC run CS better? Higher Poly usually = more pc slowdown. My pc will be able to handle it just fine, but what about people with older Pc's who are running CS fine right now how it is.

They have every single right to make people pay for their content. And I do not contest this nor do I encourage people to "skirt" this payment in any way. (Deleted my post about it earlier once I realized this error.) However I do contest the moral and ethical ground upon which they do this. And I base this upon two reasons.

» The Internet is a place where information is shared freely. Yes, you can argue that it is using bandwidth, and that does cost money. However even Fileplanet has queue lines for people who do not pay for the premium service.



» Valve and company usually don't update us too much on the progress or state of CS. Yes, you hear something once and awhile, but it is mostly "The BETA won't come out this week" or "VAC modules have been updated." (Even VAC has been quiet as of late.) So when interviews like this take place, it should be only fitting that the community which has sustained CS for all this time have free access to this interview.

Yes I know riz, you did post news about it and summarized it, but I would like to see the interview in its entirety along with the new footage.

Unsure... under the CZ section there that riz linked to there are still movies that are locked from March last year. We'll probably be playing the BETA before it gets unlocked if I had to guess.

someone should post a mirror. I don't agree with robbing bastards like gamespot and ign. I wouldnt pay for anything from them if you stuck an antenna on my head and remote controled me to pay them.

On a positive note. I am very much looking forward to CS:CZ now that Ritual have taken over as CZ did not apeal to me at all when gearbox were making it. Ritual are actually getting off thier ass (unlike gearbox) and putting some effort into updating everything in CS which I am all for as CS is in bad need of an update. I will be purchasing CZ when its released.

can you imagine what CS would look like if gearbox remade all the models. my god, it would feel like we were playing opposing force when we buy a deagle :/

These websites are run by full-time employees. Yes, that's right kids: actual offices with actual people. The bulk of their pay comes through subscriptions and ads. Stop complaining as if they are overbloated fansites -- they are larger (and provide more content) than many ``proper'' printed gaming mags.



How are they robbing anyone? They get exclusive interviews and coverage and expect you to pay for the service -- just like any gaming mag. If you want the content that much, pay for the subscription (which is often much cheaper than subscribing to a printed mag) and quit your whining.

Very true Bond, Gamespot is owned by CNET(Download.com, Ask.com, etc....) and have their own floor in the CNET building in San Francisco. All the reviews, previews, news and guides are done in a very professional manner and all video is of the highest quality. I encourage everyone that is into games can afford it ($20 annually) to become a GS Complete member, and for that matter a CS Nationalist too :)

It's amusing how everyone is suddenly rounding on Gearbox (in other comment threads too), pretending that their version would have been oh so terrible, and that the models would have made you feel like "you were playing Opposing Force when you buy a deagle".



I for one felt the Gearbox stuff was looking superb (visually better than a lot of the Ritual stuff imho), and I doubt it would have been a bad game by any means. It might be better than Rituals version - we don't know.

i understand that perfectly, but my personal opinion tells me that the past work we have seen from gearbox, CS:CZ just didnt apeal to me at all. there wasnt much new content. sure a few new models, weapons and maps but nothing major. Ritual are doing the job properly, they are completely remaking CS basically apart from the maps already in CS. From what I have seen Ritual are doing a fine job so far. the new models look superb. especially the new hand and glove models.
