We have a new article up about the benefits of overclocking your PC. Mainly, you get to improve your performance. In case you're wondering, Mr Bond has gone back to his hick roots and forgot to include a g anywhere in the word "overclocking." Here's the really interesting introduction:

Interested in overclocking? Not sure what it is? Want to know what's involved? This three part series will answer those questions and hopefully set you going on your own overclocking escapades. While this guide is designed for those with no experience at overclocking, it is expected that you know your way around your PC, can find and install drivers, and understand the basics of using your BIOS CMOS. Part one covers some general background on overclocking and includes an explanation of useful techniques and problems. While this should be able to get you started, part two will make things even clearer -- I'll be taking you step by step as I overclock my system making comparative benchmarks and providing further explanations.

I can hear computers all accross the US refusing to boot. As noobs overclock from this artical, fail to post... and well this artical didn't say what to do when it won't boot...

Well there's only 2 things you can do if it doesn't boot, change the overclocked settings or buy a new computer. It's like a puzzle and we have to solve it!!!

i wont risk either after i overclocked my CPU and burnt my motherboard... 1 month ago. Boy do i feel stupid!

Overclocking sounds fun. I might try to put my 2.5ghz P4 up to 2.8ghz some day. I wouldn't run it for long though. Just long enough to see what kinda score I get in 3dmark. To bad O/Cling doesn't improve my play in CS. I could use the help.

It does clearly say in the enws post and in the article that increased performance is only one of the benefits.

I'd buy a new CPU & Video Card rather than fiddling with overclocking. It's just too risky and time-consuming, and once you consider the cost of the cooling devices, the difference of cost of the cooling devices and the new CPU or video card is not much noticable.
