Yeah, I tried to hit a balance between technical and understandable but there are always going to be those who won't understand because they have very little experience and the "hardcores" who will read it as simplistic. One thing they did forget to mention is that overclocking can be extremely bad for the computer and when you overclock you have a higher chance of !CRASHING!. So unless you have a 300 MHz POS computer I DON'T recommend you try overclock your computer.

Hi, im computer illiterate so i dunno what i am talkin bout. My friend (hes a damn n00b at computers) was tryin to overclock his pc. I saw him change his BIOs setting thing, it was like "CPU Clock 100" min.100 max. 199. i Think he changed it to 140. He exited it and now the monitor wont show anythin. He restarted his computer, the computer turns on fine but the monitor wont show anything. I dunno if this is common but he does not know how to fix it. Does anyone know how? new computer maybe? new parts?

He will probably have to reset his BIOS settings -- sounds like the overclock failed and it won't post. Check your motherboard manual and you should be able to find a jumper for BIOS reset and on some boards you can just hit INSERT repeatedly on boot and it will reset. Also, check out those forums linked at the end of the article.

Most likely I assume your stuck with a half ass CMOS, such as Compaq, HP, or Dell?



I once was a compaq user trying to put Radeon 7500 PCI into my computer, but Compaq CMOS didnt agree with it :/... It took me awhile but (Bond also mentioned this) Try updating your Bios, it usually contains more options.



BE CAREFUL WHILE UPDATING BIOS

oh aye thats reminds me what I going to say yesterday but the site/database thing was down. Are you going to do an bit on unlocking processors Mr. Bond as you didn't mention it in part1 one?
