Steam is one step closer to becoming a product the public is willing to think about using.

      Maybe.

Well, it's the first update that went at the descent speed I would expect it to go.. A step forward indeed.. Now we just need offline/LAN-support and a setting for bandwidth usage by Steam.. Thxs..

Ok... I feel for all you guys out there who just loved customizing and changing the models in 1.5. Steam really disappoints me alot. Apparently, the servers can now detect a difference and auto-kick me for trying to put in my own models. WTF is up with that??? How does my own models affect the gameplay of others??? Yes they might slow down MY computer, but not the others. It doesn't have to do with the connection, just my computer. And believe me, my computer is well prepared to handle such graphics. I hope that the a-holes (pardon my french) who make steam and 1.6 (valve?) will fix this in the updates. Until then, **** them.

#33, if you just did a little reseach in the Steam forums you would already know you cannot use custom p_models, all other custom v_ & w_models work fine in CS 1.6 on Steam..

So we have to restart Steam to get the update?

I thought it was supposed to be seamless and instant? Gabe (or somebody from Valve) told us that that's the whole reason to have Steam run 24/7 in the background, so that updates could be downloaded automatically when the system was idle... having to restart Steam doesn't sound very automatic to me...

I think only game content patches were supposed to be seamless, not Steam patches.

Thats what this update was for. Read the changelog.

I'm guessing you're referring to this?
» Added support for "trickle update", which will allow updates to games to be delivered over time before they are activated.
Well, that's games, not the Steam executable itself.

                          I'm thinking like masterren, that
... only game content patches were supposed to be seamless, not Steam patches.
Oh well, not such a big deal restarting Steam....

christ, I cant believe some of you lot sometimes, some people will never be happy, valve are releasing patches for this 'once terrible steam client' nearly every week, fixing buts and whatnot, yet STILL your complaining, is it REALLY that much of a problem to restart a program ?

LOL... Show me the magic that allows to update executable files (not only exes but dlls and others) that are in use...

Thats why you need to restart, losers..
