You can fix that by going to settings and logging out and back in.

delete your masterservers.vdf file from the steam/config folder and restart steam. You should then have a list. However, there is a new bug that is causing thousands of servers to not show up.
For some reason I don't get any servers listed anymore. Even without filters. I highly doubt that there's not a single server online :)

1) how about the bug where steam was eating up all computer's memory? (Got my comp usage to 75%+ with barely anything open, and i have like 760 ram. Yeah, computer would go sooo slow. Anyone know if its fixed yet? YES its real, its on the steam forum too, so dont fight me
2) I deleted masterservers.vdf last time and fixed the problem, getting all servers back. New patch comes out, GONE AGAIN. gg valve
3) does ANYONE know why CS says preparing to play and then tells me theres an error with my LaunchApp or something, and tells me to flush CS. i say "ok, flush the $&^#@ CS"....(waits about 2 minutes)....error pops up again. Not fixed, yay cant even run counter-strike (or ANY other mod)...i use to love u valve =\Comment

ever though that the master server (the one that *magically* gives u a list of all servers) might be down? i'm pretty sure VALVe has a lot to deal with now, and maybe this time they should keep their word and quickly fix up HL2 for release before April 2004 (the new pushed back approximate date, not posted on csnation.net for some reason).Comment

The thing about deleting the masterservers file is that you have to do it again and again. It's not one of those 'end it forever' fixes.shurcool wrote..
No, I never thought that. You know why? Here's why...

Deleting the masterservers file fixes it every time. SO, stop trying to be clever.Comment

OK ive got Steam with CS 1.6 on cd. SteamInstall_CS.exe
Ive tried 3 times to try and get it to work. BUt it just takes so long for the transfer from 1.5 to the 1.6 cache. One of my m8s waited for 4 hours for it to do it, and even at the end of that it f00ked up :/
So can someone please tell me the steps to install steam properly??
Thank youComment
