  • Ubisoft will Open a New Winnipeg Studio this Fall

    Ubisoft Winnipeg
Ubisoft must be having a grand ol' time this year because they just announced that they're opening another new studio, this time in Winnipeg. This studio will join the also recently announced studios in Mumbai and Odesa, these having been announced just about two weeks ago now.

The new studio in Winnipeg will join the other Ubisoft teams in Montreal, Quebec City, and Toronto. Its rolle will be that of a "co-development studio" and will support franchises such as Assassin's Creed and Far Cry. Ubisoft Winnipeg will be looking to hire roughly 100 new employees in the next five years. Positions of opportunity include engineers, tool programmers, technical artists, and other specialists in the Winnipeg area.
"The creation of these massive digital worlds is increasingly complex," says Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Canadian Studios. "It's critical that our development teams have access to the best tech and tools to continue to develop the most innovative games in our fast-paced, highly competitive market."

"With its thriving local techno-creative industry, and innovative university and college programs that combine creative arts, IT, and computer science, Winnipeg is truly a hidden gem for talent in the video game industry," says Darryl Long, Managing Director of Ubisoft Winnipeg. "Knowing the city and the people behind all the initiatives driving economic growth through creativity and innovation, I am extremely excited about what we will achieve with this new studio."
