I just received a press mailing from Square Enix that briefly talks about Final Fantasy VII Remake.
That last line in particular is the most important bit. It reads as though Square Enix plans on releasing Final Fantasy VII Remake as a series of episodic releases instead of one big game. They did not provide any details on how many episodes are planned. Some speculate that it will be one episode per original PlayStation disc, of which there were three. Others are not quite as optimistic.
Either way, this isn't exactly what fans were hoping for with the Remake.
During this past weekend’s PlayStation Experience in San Francisco, SQUARE ENIX® debuted a new trailer for FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE, the full remake of the award-winning role-playing game, FINAL FANTASY VII. The new trailer features the first CG scenes as well as gameplay footage. FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.
