  • Black Hound is Yet Another P.T. Inspired Horror Game That Angered Two Fanbases (Updated)

UPDATE: Even better is the speculation now that Black Hound isn't even an actual project. Many now suspect that even this was just another lie from the Ingsoc team as part of their plan to... to... Well, I'm not really sure what their endgame is, nor do I think that even they know what their own endgame is with all of this nonsense.

As of right now, the ingsoc.org site countdown timer is no more. In its place are some words (pictured below) that link to this Funhaus video. The Rooster Teeth owned Funhaus issued a very direct statement about the matter, stating that they are in no way associated or affiliated with the goings on at Ingsoc.
This video is not related to ingsoc.org in any way. The person / people that made that website linked to this video without asking us and without our knowledge. Funhaus, now a part of Rooster Teeth Productions, has flat out said that they are in no way affiliated or associated with the events surrounding Ingsoc.

If that's why you're here, you done been pranked. Sorry! We didn't have anything to do with it though.

Also of note are some additional Twitter exchanges that continue where the original exchange (see bottom of this post) left off.

Oh. Apparently their endgame is to simply be completely unprofessional and ensuring that they fully alienate the key demographic that would be most interested in their alleged game. Noted.

Original story: Black Hound is a yet another P.T. inspired horror game that was just announced this evening. The build up to this game's announcement was a two front assault that riled up both Metal Gear Solid fans and Silent Hill fans. A website, ingsoc.org, popped up with a countdown time and a substantial number of references to Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill. At the same time, a user began posting images that looked to be heavily inspired by P.T.

Well, the cat is out the bag now and fans aren't too thrilled. Black Hound isn't Silent Hill nor is it related to Metal Gear Solid. It is instead a free P.T. inspired horror game that will be released in 2018 (at the earliest). The announcement came via Reddit.
    What's the story?
The world's coming to an end. Your small city is one of the last remaining pockets of uninfected humans on the planet. The walls around it were constructed by a goverment refief agency to keep whatever caused this out, but the only purpose they seem to serve now is keeping everyone in and driving them mad. Those that do pass the walls, never come back.

The Father, a single parent and double amputee, has been protecting and raising The Child for months in this walled-off city. Dealing with the loss of his wife and The Child's sibling six years ago had been difficult enough without the neighbors going feral and seemingly supernatural creatures roaming the streets.
Last night he failed. She was taken from him.

The story will follow The Father as he attempts to find The Child, leave the city, and return to where The Child was born, and where her mother died. The player will control both of these characters over the course of the main story line.

The two main characters are known (for now) as "The Father" and "The Child". Their names are one of the aspects of the world that the Chosen will have control over. The main playable portion of the game will take place in the year 1984, in a very small city of 1000 somewhere in the northwest United States.

    How does it play?
Third-person control system. Very similar to recent titles like Uncharted 3, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid V. However, some portions of the game are a first-person experience, such as when controlling The Child. The Father's combat mechanics will be melee oriented, but he may be able weild certain firearms in rare cases. The Child's gameplay sections will not be combat sections in the traditional sense. More info on The Child's abilities will be made available when other aspects of the game are decided by the Chosen.

They even went so far as to use a Twitter handle of "Kojima Lives." Needless to say, their plan backfired and the team has managed to draw the ire of two largely separate fanbases as a result of this poorly thought out stunt. An example of some of the underhanded tactics used by the development team were shown in this exchange with one upset fan (via Reddit).

Alienating your target audience prior to the game even being announced probably isn't the smartest thing to do.
