This weekend, the final rounds for ESL One Katowice 2015 were played out. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fans all around the world tuned in to see Fnatic take on Ninjas in Pyjamas in the best of three series. This win gives Fnatic the dubious honor of being the first team to repeat a major CS:GO tournament.
Fnatic came away the victors and with it they took home the $100,000 grand prize.
For the finals, over 1 million people tuned in to watch. On Twitch there were over 700,000 people watching the event. This is on top of the players that were watching the action live within the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive client. At its peak, over 595,000 CS:GO players were online at the same time. Of course, not all of them were probably watching the finale but it's still a huge number of people. This is a new esports record for Counter-Strike.
