Daybreak Game Company continues to deliver the bad news today as it was revealed that they are no longer working with Storybricks for the EverQuest Next AI. Storybricks is a company that specializes in emergent artificial intelligence.
This comes from the game's Senior Producer Terry Michaels from the EverQuest Next Twitch channel in a show held this past Friday. Storybricks was working on creating NPCs that would react to the world around them. They would also have their own routines and reactions based on their personal "lives." Michaels does note that the work done thus far will be preserved.
However, this is just the latest in the worrying news trend concerning EverQuest Next.
“We are not working with Storybricks any more,” Senior Producer Terry Michaels said on a livestream chat yesterday. “We made the decision that it was in the best interest of the game to take that work in-house. They did a lot of work for us and we’ll be utilizing that. It’s not like that work is lost.”
