  • Oculus Rift is Coming to Select Chuck E. Cheese's Locations

Chuck E. Cheese's locations in Dallas, San Diego, and Orlando will be the first to test out the Oculus Rift before potentially making the move to more locations.
"Kids today have unprecedented access to game consoles and tablets," said Roger Cardinale, president of Chuck E. Cheese's owner CEC Entertainment. "Our challenge is to deliver an experience not available at home, and there is no doubt virtual reality does just that. Oculus Rift technology is the next frontier in the gaming industry, and we're thrilled to be able to say it's part of the Chuck E. Cheese's lineup."

These three markets will be part of a six-week trial run for the Rift headset. Kids and adults will get to try out Virtual Ticket Blaster in glorious virtual reality. This is a special game created by Reel FX.
"We believe that virtual reality eventually will be as popular as our handheld devices," Reel FX founder Dale Carman said. "It's a game-changer, and we're investing incredible time and talent into developing content for the Oculus Rift."

As someone who used to work at a Chuck E. Cheese's and know a bit of what that environment is like, it seems like a super, super bad idea to have the Oculus Rift in that environment. From the potential for the headsets being broken to just the sheer level of "disgusting" that will coat the outside and the inside of those things? Well, let's just say best of luck to all parties on this test.
