I apologize for the wall of text. You brought up some interesting points and I wanted to comment on them as follows:

6. Vehicles.
Keep in mind Call of Duty's design for multiplayer has always been about small quick games. It's very similar to the approach Minh Le is doing with Tactical Intervention (which he believes is the solution to Counter-Strike's design problems). So the idea of large-scale travelling with vehicles has not appealed to Treyarch/Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games thus far. That said, keep in mind CoD: MW2, CoD: BO, and CoD: MW3 DOES have vehicles in multiplayer. They're just aerial types as vertical space is not impaired from the smaller maps (again, by choice and not limitation), and it's a good excuse to explain to players why this "ability" makes them invincible (would suck to die as an AC-130 operator). I didn't mention CoD:WaW because I don't know if it features multiplayer vehicles. As for singleplayer, well... Most, if not all CoD games had vehicles (some controllable and not on rails), but I don't think that was your point at all.

7. Single player and Co-Op added to Battlefield.
I'll wait to see whether BF3's Co-Op mode is any good or not. We've seen Treyarch's version with CoD: WaW, so we'll have to wait for BF3's version and then see whether BF3 Co-Op is better than CoD: WaW for console players. Admittedly speaking, BF3 has an edge as a modern warfare game, rather than CoD: WaW's oversaturated WWII theme, so co-op play may be more appealing for BF3. My point is to compare the design aspects of co-op gameplay, and see whether or not a co-op campaign for console players is worth it or not, compared to zombie slaying/spec-ops. I'd like to think Treyarch had a reason not to do it for CoD: BO that had nothing to do with the timeframe. Hmm... Actually, I don't think Mr. Osborn's point had anything to do with gameplay features, which is why he ignored co-op and single player is a standard for many games that aren't in the MMO genre.

Another good point you brought up, that I didnt think about, was the "MW3 is not a military shooter." aspect of it. I always thought it was. I guess the run-n-gun style makes it someting else maybe, I dont know.
Actually what you thought is what the Facebook comments were pointing out. CoD: MW3 IS generally considered to be a military shooter even if it isn't a simulator. So why did Mr. Osborn praise CoD:MW3 over BF3, when he gave reason #3? Shouldn't reason #3 and #1 cancel each other out due to this paradox? That's why I would like to know what Mr. Osborn's thoughts on this matter are, as I may not have read reason #3 in the proper context. I currently see two paradoxes (Rage and CoD:MW3) with reason #3 and I'm trying to understand his point, rather than taking things literally. Unfortunately, I can only remove one paradox with my subjective interpretation.
As for your other points (1, 2, and 3), they do show that BF3's console version isn't an afterthought at all, and it does counter many of Mr. Osborn's implications that DICE could have done a better job to cater to console gamers. Well done on defeating the majority of reason #2 with facts that Mr. Osborn was not aware of (bit odd given his journalist background). All that's left of Mr. Osborn's argument is the fact that BF3 for consoles is not running at the same frame rates as its competitors. He believes frame rate is appealing to hardcore online gamers who need speed to succeed, and will be the reason for BF3's failure compared to other games; 30 fps is apparently what gives other games the edge in beating BF3 especially in a multiplayer environment. On that note, my retarded mind finally clicked as to what "serious competition" meant. I thought he was referring to competitive gaming, instead of competition between games (as in retail products) which is stupid.
Oh... The guy's a troll. I should've known better. Reminds me of the guy who flamed and praised the Nintendo Wii on two seperate YouTube videos. Also keep in mind I just finished typing my post before seeing the thread updated with your link to the new article, so the above comments are made without knowing Mr. Osborn was being a troll to stir up the community both positively and negatively.
Hmmm, quite a change of heart since that article. I wonder what could have transpired to change this guys mind like that?
Crunch
I just realised something... He only had 3 reasons for not buying BF3 as opposed to 5 for "Why BF3 will trump MW3", and 2 of them contradict each other. Maybe he was trying to prove a point backwards? (If that makes sense)
The sad fact is, many journalists in online media are tailoring their articles to bring in the clicks instead of bring informative.
He knows lots of people will read provocative articles like that.

So-called serious newspapers does it too.
Well, I have an idea of what I'm doing for my next article.
If you happen to see me uttering the phrases "Why the Battlefield Series Should Die" or "Call of Duty is the Pinnacle of Military Simulation Titles" then you'll know why.
Save it for April 1, 2012 if you're not resurrecting Wrestlin' Nation. I would still prefer Wrestlin' Nation over articles meant to grab my attention by pissing me off though.

Considering Activision has bought out TGN, I wouldn't call my articles a joke.

Hey, just to save time and because I may not see it for a while being someone who is living in Australia, I may as well get this over with in advance. Could you copy and post the next segment for me into the comments? If you can, thanks. Okay, here it goes...
