All that matchmaking means is that it takes people of like skill level and preferences into the same room. All that everyone else here has posted so far is that its the same as on the xbox 360, this is a PC not a 2+ year old tech console. I think Microsoft are criminals for making you pay to be able to host a game on your own console to play with random people. WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE PLANING FOR STEAM, WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IW.NET IS!

IW_Scriptacus at the IW forums put out that all play will be run on local hosts. After being called out on it, he deleted the entire thread...

First. P2P in this context is *not* pay to play, its *peer to peer* connection where one of the players acts as a server and the other ones connect to him. This is quite different from dedicated servers.

Secondly. IW, 402 and now another representative of IW have confirmerd, that its going to be P2P, because the whole system is built on one player being the host and others connecting to them via his home internet.

So stop arguing like a child and actually do some research.

And it's gonna suck at the same way, because many people dont have good internet connection!

Well, we really shouldn't be mad, or hate 402, It's not his fault that his company made a ****ty game, after all he is a console boy. They really need a separate Community manager for the PC, and not some stooge who probably runs a 486 DX4!!

Im not hating on what he has to say, but the way he said it, as far as i understand it, he gets a list of what has to be said, and he decides how he words it.

I registered just to chime in on this.

I wonder if the brainiacs over at Infinity Ward have stopped to think how many cable agreements will be broken by gamers playing this new multiplayer system of theirs. My residential cable agreement clearly states that NO game servers will be allowed or you might be turned off completely. I bet my agreement reads the same as everyone else with a cable modem.

One more thing, I think this is why the name "Call Of Duty" has been essentially dropped or diminished in advertisements and the packaging. It isn't Call Of Duty and they knew that from the beginning while they got us all hyped up about the next installment in the series. The next step in this is to have two games, COD and MW.

I've cancelled my preorder and will just wait for a real Call Of Duty game to come out. One that supports REAL servers and mods.

I agree 100% with this statement.

Essentially it IS COD, otherwise why wasn't it just named "Modern Warfare" instead of "Modern Warfare 2" the 2 standing for a sequel to "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"

Yes but they dont actually refer to it as CoD:MW2 and if i remember rightly when it was first announced the box art didnt even say CoD.

as for VAC, never been too sure as to why bans are delayed but in some ways it makes a lot of sense, a player cheats and thinks hes gotten away with it, delaying the ban potentially means you get more information on the hack or more people start to use it, in which case they all receive the mighty banhammer and have to buy new accounts in order to play the game mwhahahahahaha

AND if the VAC system works like it does in CSS, which I assume it will, cheating and being VAC banned in COD6 means that you would need to get a new account and buy another copy of the game

                          much lols considering the price
Yes, thats actually a positive aspect to using Punkbuster which doesn't work as well as it should.

So then why name it Modern Warfare 2, if its a different game and not a sequel? Seems pretty obvious its supposed to be a sequel to CoD4, if using the same characters and such as CoD4 doesn't give it away, I'm not sure what will..lol

Yes but you could argue the same between BF2 on PC and BF2: Modern Combat which was a much different game and only for 360.

Its just an idea and its not totally ridiculous sounding.
