That's just a bunch of smoke being blown up every ones butts.

All he did there was "explain" with elaborate paragraphs (well what he thought as elaborate) to try and get people interested in seeing what the game will actually bring to the table. When we're all sitting here saying, we already know the MP side of the game is going to be ****.

Nice try Mr. Bowling, nice try.

There's no way most of the people claiming they won't ever buy this game will stick to it. Yeah it's crap about the dedi servers but have you ever heard of cutting off your nose to spite your face?

          ......we fear change......

At least give it a chance before slating it. If it's turd then demand a refund but you can't claim something is crap that no one has even played yet.

Maybe I am an idiot but still I fail to see how IWnet sounds like a good thing?

1.Who the **** told these guys that PC users do not want to choose their own servers?

                      2. Since when browsing through servers is a bad thing? Since when hosting your own damn server is a bad thing? Why is he trying to convince us otherwise?

                      3. If they are really convinced about this IWnet, why don't we have both, the dedicated servers AND matchmaking?

                      4. Why no demo? Don't give me that we-didn't-have-time bs. It's a ******* port. It's not like you are doing the game from the ground up for the PC.

It's a straight port, they still fail to admit that. If it wasn't we would have dedicated servers AND a matchmaking option. +$10 just because they can. No demo because they know if they released it they would be crucified.

These guys still fail to admit that they are doing this to milk the PC users in the long run just like they are doing to the peasant consoles. For once, please be honest and admit your intentions.

I think you would have to hold these guys at gunpoint for him to start telling the truth.

Zeus H Christ... Admit your greedy faults, IW, and fade away from the PC scene. Go milk some peasants.

Hardcore PC players? Fanboys? So 90% of PC players are fanboys are they? Maybe they should pull their head out of their asses and realise that they are the 10% of console fanboys on PC.

                        Matchmaking & Smoother Gameplay: ...
Oh no! Not scrolling alllllll the way down the server list. If only you could arrange them by ping. If ONLY there was a server filter to only show unmodified servers!

                        Playlists and Private Matches: ...
Good grief, having to wait 1 minute while a mod downloads and installed? What ever next? Having to actually use the dedicated server your clan owns is even more of a horrific idea.

                        Party System and Friendslist: ...
If only we had things like XFire, if only Treyarch had a friends list in game... Oh what could have been.

Cheat / Hack Free Games: ...
Of course! Where as before if the anti-cheat didn't pick them up then we had our trusty friendly admin to get rid of them. Now if it doesn't pick them up we are f***ed! Excellent idea *standing ovation*.

                          1. If they can get match making to work its gonna be great if you just wanna hop into a game.

                          2. If there is a way to save your preferences this would a great quick way to set up private customized games.

                          3. Lets face it, xfire needs to die or get improved, the buddy list in COD:WaW was really a good idea and our clan used it a lot, but it was buggy. Its great, for 4-5 year old tech, but it could work so much better. Games for Windows LIVE, actually is working less buggy the xfire and that is really embarrassing for them.

                          4. PB sucks, I hate it, it has resulted in me being kicked because it would does not seem to want to automatically update. VAC on the other hand updates with Steam. 'nough said!

I want to call this innovation, but we haven't played it yet so we don't know if it works and we don't know everything about IW.net yet. For all we know IW.net is going to have rank and stat tracking and a from of dedicated servers so matchmaking isn't peer to peer like it is on the xbox which is why they had to create forced migration.

No. It is not going to be great. In fact, a well created server browser would be much better. A server browser which has a number os search options, shows players in a highlighted servers and has a sorting feature along with favourites would beat matchmaking on its own. Matchmaking can also be integrated into a server browser by memorizing the options you used to sort your servers with, and adding ping and skill into the search before automatically joining you into a game.

Except that this wouldnt really work out for competitive gaming, now would it? If theres money on the line and youre reliant on P2P connection, its simply not going to work.

                            3. Lets face it, xfire needs to die or get improved, the buddy list in COD:WaW was really a good idea and our clan used it a lot, but it was buggy. List me the problems with xfire, please. Because xfire is operating on "as much as necessary, as little as possible" basis, which means that its not going to be a resource-hog and its not going to try to take over functions other software does better. It has a very simple friends list, and you can join any friend with a click of a button, even such games like BF2, which require you to log in to master servers. An ingame buddy list is fine, but its only an issue of comfort. I dont mind it, but thats what STEAM is for, for many people and xfire is for others. This is PC gaming, variety is our game.

                            4. PB sucks, I hate it, it has resulted in me being kicked because it would does not seem to want to automatically update. VAC on the other hand updates with Steam. 'nough said!
PB sucked for a lot less it didnt suck for. And for those for whom it sucked the most, could not use Google. PB along with administered servers delivered the best way to deal with cheaters, in the fastest way possible. P2P connection, matchmaking and VAC will mean that instead of admins and dedicated servers, you will have to fely on the host, the kickvotes and the *delayed* bans from VAC, which could take *weeks*. Now, this will also mean that in a lot of cases, the cheater himself is going to be the host. Yeah. I can see how this "new" system is going to be better.

I want to call this innovation, but we haven't played it yet so we don't know if it works and we don't know everything about IW.net yet.
Correction. You dont know how it works. We know how it works because it has been tried before and all attempts have failed. Its a statistical fact you should be looking out for. Vegas 1 and 2 had it, OFP2 has it, Medal Of Honours latest game, which was supposed to compete with COD4 had it aswell.

For all we know IW.net is going to have rank and stat tracking and a from of dedicated servers so matchmaking isn't peer to peer like it is on the xbox which is why they had to create forced migration.
What are you talking about? The fact that even if stat tracking will be on their own master servers, will not mean that your game will be hosted on someones home computer and home connection, which is what P2P is!

For F-sake, the first part cancels out your whole arrangement. Your speculating and saying it will suck because of those speculations. All I'm saying is that it could be something completely different then everyone is making it out to be.

And the second part is in complete conflict, no where has anyone from IW said that the matchmaking they are working on is P2P, all we do know it will be a "NEW" (key word) kind of matchmaking, that is all we know for a fact.

Im not speculating anything, Im basing my opinion on the countless of arguments and facts given by the tech savvy PC community. Im also basing my opinion on the simple fact that until now, no PC FPS with P2P has been successful or even comparable to the dedicated server system. All P2P attempts have failed and died a horrible death of inactivity.

You on the other hand, are basing your opinion on the simple fact that you dont know anything. I urge you to read countless of articles written by the gaming community. Youre arguing against the experience and profession of the IT crowd here. Good luck with that.

Logic, and common sense. If it isnt dedi-servers, then its P2P. Because if a player is a host, then the connection is peer to peer. IW has confirmed that the player is also a potential host, thus confirmit that its P2P. Please dont argue facts given by IW themselves.
