    Re: Battlefield: 1943 Pacific?!

The biggest point seems to have been missed. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is going to "up the ante" on the first Bad Company, and is being released for PC. If you read the Bad Company 2 website, they basically assert that this BF1943 release is just a "warm up" for the release of Bad Company 2.

If they're one-upping Bad Company and releasing it on PC, there's hope yet that we may get the "BF3" that we were all wanting - only with a single player element.

Either way I'll be following Battlefield Bad Company 2 closely.

24 players, 3 maps, 2 nations.....is this a joke? We had more content in the alpha release of Forgotten Hope 2.

BC2 for PC, consoles and i presume this is max 24 players as well. Since BC1 and BF1943 is 24.
      "BF1943" for PC, consoles

I guess this means the end for the large battle 64p Battlefield PC game? LOL :shakehead:

That information about Battlefield Bad Company 2 hasn't been released yet.

If it is 24 players... that's a big downer.

My main point is that if Bad Company 2 is a console port, I won't mind if it provides the "original" Battlefield experience. That's to say I hope they are developing it with PC gamers in mind to a very, very large extent. Basically I hope it's more of a "PC -> Console" port than a "Console -> PC" port. Optimistic, I know.

COD4 pulled off a console/PC release well. I'm just hoping BF can. The only thing is that it's going to be much more difficult, being that COD doesn't deal with 64 players.

            I'm confused now...

I'll just wait until DICE makes an official statement, no need to jump to conclusions.

I always wanted BF3 to be WW2 but with 24 players tops you lose what made BF so special. BFBC was a great game but didn't quite live up to the standard of the old PC BF games, except for graphics and destuctible environments then.

While you could be, and probably are right, I think that the fact DICE promised more "vehicles, teamwork" etc. for Bad Company 2 means that the player limit just might be increased - even if that's only for the PC version.

There have been games released in the past where PC versions can host larger games then console versions.

It appears they want to release console game on the PC now. I hate to say it, but my BF days might be over....

It's being made as a game to basically hold people over until Bad Company 2 by the looks of things. It's going to be released on the Xbox Live Arcade system, meaning it's not being planned as a big title release. It will also probably only be released for PC via the EA online store.

It also only provides 3 maps, 24 slots per server, and as you can see from the video, a borderline "Heroes" arcade-style appearance.

I don't think this was the Battlefield 1943 you were hoping for (eg. 64 players, 3 theaters of war, 4 teams, 12 maps, upgraded 1942). In fact, aside from the engine and graphics, it seems to be an incredibly dumbed down version of 1942.

                      Early days though.

                      Exactly.

If this is a 24 player limit console port, no thanks. If it's doing what Operation Flashpoint 2 is doing though, and creating a PC version with 2x as many players online than the console version - that's going to be epic.

QFT. When I think of a 'Battlefield', I don't think of 24 players duking it out, that's more like mini-skirmish-field, or perhaps small-feud-field. Ever tried to play Wake 2007 with just 24 people? 'Boring' ceases to be adequate. It's fine if the map is no larger than 32 man Karkand, but who the hell wants to play a full scale map like Guadalcanal with only 12 people on each team? We want BIG maps with LOTS of people and BIG battles with LOTS of vehicles.

One step forward, two steps back, eh?

3 old maps with a polished graphic.....

this should be a FREE download as BF Heroes

anything else would be a ripoff

I just don't know how they expect to retain PC gamers who want BIGGER games, not smaller. They are going backwards!

Bad Company is a CONSOLE game. No amount of "upping the ante" on a console game is going to make it a PC game.

ugh, so it's essentially just the WW2 mod they made for Vietnam?

I hope this isn't their big commitment to PC gamers they keep talking about.

Only 3 maps and 2 factions... that's horrible.

But I seriously doubt this will be THE NEW BF3.

oh and with multiple current battlefield titles the community get's seperated.
