Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Announced

Just announced, Call of Duty 6 will be known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and will arrive some time in 2009.

Activision Blizzard made this announcement along with others as part of their "Massive Inc. upfront". An upfront is an event where publishers show off their upcoming titles to advertisers and the media.

Details about Modern Warfare 2 are not yet known, but expect more news in the upcoming weeks and months. It is anticipated that Modern Warfare 2 will be handled by Infinity Ward.

pathetic. Activision is sticking with it that they are coming out with a new title every year, but this makes me believe it will still be on the same damn engine as COD4 which means it is going to continue to be repetitive..almost like "Mods" as it will most likely be the same "Feel" as COD4

I hope we get a new setting and hopefully a lot of weapons and stuff we haven't seen much of in modern combat games so far. PLA from BF2 would be something maybe?

What I would really love to see them use CoD4 tech/eng and re-do CoD1 and UO with MP maps from 2 and make 1 hug game also with new content.:salute:

Well, they've had 2 years to make it, so it could be a new engine. I'd say tha COD6 will be a new engine, COD7 will be the same as COD6, then COD8/9 (if they make it that far) will be a newer engine, etc.
