It says in the original article, Fall 2009.

Sounds right. That would've been my guess, considering both COD4 and CODWW came out in November, poised for the Thanksgiving/pre-Xmas buying period.

I welcome this announcement. Looks like Activision is separating the COD genres into (at least) WWII and Modern Warfare. If they also eventually do a game set in the Future, (which has been hinted at in earlier press releases) then they'll probably have all of their major fan-bases covered.

I read that the DLC for World at War will be much more impressive than previously. They also hinted that it would be different.

Doesn't mean that idea isn't going forward. Just that it might not necessarily be the next one to come out. If this one is coming in 2009, a "Futuristic" shooter may be on track for 2010...or they may want to upgrade the game engine for better fx before going that route.

I'll have to play through CoD4 SP again, but wasn't the nuke at the very end? (well the plane was) - but by the name of MW2 it's probably gonna lead on after the nuke, I wonder how long after the nuke? It'll probably be a full out war too, since that guy nuked all those soldiers...

I'm sure IW has seen what Treyarch has done with the series, and will probably include CO-OP (since it was requested by so many for CoD4 anyway) and possibly 'other game modes' like the zombie stuff Treyarch (although it probably won't be a zombie mode, maybe a futuristic one?)

I kinda knew MW2 was coming, since in this DVD I got which has the developers review for the first mission and various swat videos from England... they talked about "setting CoD4 in MW allowed us to write the story how we wanted, whereas with WW2 everyone knew who would win, with CoD4 you don't know who's gonna win and we can expand the story to how we want" - but then I didn't think about it since I heard about WaW (as I thought MW2 would be after MW) - and then totally forgot about it until now... maybe I'll look for the DVD and watch it again later...

The nuke was somewhere in the middle of the game... The very last thing was this car chase where you're trying to take down the chopper with RPG's... you fail and you pop the head off that evil dude in the end (can't rememer the name + it was a long time ago since I last played SP)

As for the game, if we see vehicles (but not this tank only bull), and a new engine along with bigger maps then it might be good.

In other cases, it will just be a map pack sold as a full game!

pathetic. Activision is sticking with it that they are coming out with a new title every year, but this makes me believe it will still be on the same damn engine as COD4 which means it is going to continue to be repetitive..almost like "Mods" as it will most likely be the same "Feel" as COD4

IW did good work with COD4...

I just hope it will be original enough for me to want to buy it.
