Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

Yeah. WW2 is not the gulf war or modern warfare like many mods are doing. It's much easier for them to release.

Besides, most mods already use most of the vanilla code, for arcade gaming. FH has to modify almost EVERYTHING, because they aim for more realism.

And the sounds - can you imagine the sheer amount of work that goes into making new sounds? And animating ENTIRELY NEW player models?

    People just dont get it.

As i previously said, you clearly have no idea how hard this is. The FH2 team is not getting paid or anything there doing it for us and i think you should take a step back and give them some recognition for that, and as for the code that is the most time-consuming bit of modding.

Also if you would care to stop complaining for a second..the FH2 team released 2 videos in their last or 2nd last update of some animations and guns and a car and a map! go do some research before you shout your mouth off next time.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

The rant begins... (not directly against you, harmz, it's more like a general rant):

Statement: Customers are burning out the BF2 modteams

        Why?: nothing works

of course there is the usual trend: release now, bunch of slackers, two years and nothing?, we will not complain about bugs...lie!: the fellows of the other released mods can tell if I am lieing or not. And even if a mod is practically flawless, like PoE2, the sad truth is the BF2 players prefer that badges and ranks circus, and the support to mods is just simbolic.

Well, let me say I am amazed there are BF2 mods released, because you have no damn idea the Stairway to Hell the BF2 modding was and is.

In BF42 the moding scene was totally diferent, of course the tricks to rush releases did happen but it was the only complain, the followers of mods were more supportive.

Now, in 2007, in BF2, the list of complains is endless:

        - If a mod team (like FH2) tries to show progress every week is called the "screenshots mod" by some trolls/attention whores out there, with the usual Duke Nukem whatever smarta$$ remark from time to time
        - If a mod team doesn't show progress each hour is dead, and has not respect for fans
        - If a mod team doesn't show 3 maps, 4 vehicles and 14 weapons in an update they are slacking
        - If they don't release because they don't release
        - If they release because they release and there are bugs

Really, if you think your favourite mod is slacking, learn to make models, skins, maps, coding, sounds, cook fries & chips, pay us, or shut up!

Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update

It's no wonder that in every major mod team news release, these teams are constantly looking for new talent to help get the mods released. It's a difficult process, made even more so by the quirky BF2 engine.

I guess screenshots of Python code are sexy enough for some people out there.

Keep up the good work. We'll be here when it's ready.

I agree with you Lobo, some people are just way too ignorant to appreciate stuff.

I'm hearing here and there that FH2 will have an arcade type of gameplay - is this true?...

Depends what the guy in the XWW2 thread means by arcadey! :p

I think we're looking at having realistic gameplay but which is still fun for everyone to play. You'd have to ask another dev for a better answer though.

I can say that our maps are realistic - we use digital elevation model (DEM) data, maps, satellite photos, plans, modern and period photos to make them as life-like as possible. Where possible we've made buildings etc to match those that were there in real life. For example, compare the upper-right photo in this render with the following screenshot of Lobo's Mersa Matruh map:

I have similar shots of my map with the photos of the real life buildings too.
(Note: this doesn't mean all FH2 maps will be 100% accurate representations of their real-life locations :p)

Yeah, Mr_Cheese I noticed that too before. It's really incredible that a free organization could go out of their way to do something like that.
