Too bad more dont feel like you....EA would love it, they wouldnt lose a single solitary customer dues to their inadequacies in the quest for more money.

had another 2 hour session, the first time I loaded the game up I couldnt enter a game. I would get to the screen where you are supposed to first choose your spawn point and the map wouldnt open up and there would be no chatting just a screen of me seeing what was going on but I couldnt get into the game. so I quit the game and reloded and then it worked properly. This never happaned before.

I also lost my connection after 2 hours not sure why? but I have issues with my connection sometimes...... its rare but it does happen.

Im liking this new map very much, Im playing on a karkand/falala halala:laugh: whatever the name is and I feel like I dont want to play the karkand really, even though karkand is my favorite map no other map made me feel like that thus far so its looking good:)

No they dont milk me for money I payed for BF2 and I enjoyed playing it. I then payed for Special Forces. Not a bad game but none of my friends played it. Companys dont force you to buy the boosters and expansions. There are idiots out there though who complain about the original then buy the expansion just to complain some more. And what do you mean DOD2 is a mod for HL2 and I recall paying for it.

Why aren't I surprised that as soon as EA officially releases something arguments and shouting matches inevitably crop up?:|: It's starting to irritate me a little

I have play for like 2-3 hours with my friend and 1-2 hours alone, and got 0 problem with the new patch, and my friend no problem too

The new map is a bit weird at the beginning but after 5-6 rounds you can know all the good place

So finally a real good patch, don't see any bug, no CTD and no connection problem...hope it will always be like that

                Well Calaros,

Again, if EA/Dice had done their job, none of this would be necessary. It's all very sad. Without a doubt this is one of the best PC games out there. How easy it would have been to create a loyal gaming base. But they chose instead to rest on their laurels and let the game degrade to its grudgingly acceptable state, irritating their customers along the way. I for one get no joy from bashing The Man, but I would like them to shapen up and build what we the consumers really want. If we simply continue to gobble up their table scraps, they'll never give us the juicy steak, though it is certainly well within their power to do so.

Re: Battlefield 2 v1.4 Patch Released

I hear what people are saying about spending money to upgrade their system to play the Battlefield franchise. This, to me, is ridiculous. It's a horrible idea to post this as some kind of reason to be upset. If you read the system requirements on the box and your system didn't match those then it is your choice whether or not you want to spend the money.

Let's not talk about system upgrades as if the gaming companies have put guns to our heads. I understand that as games become more complex and power hungry that we have the choice to upgrade and continue on or to not play.

I agree that we should look at the amount of hours spent as compared to how much it costs to purchase the game. In fact, think about how many hours it took to code, skin, devise maps, background, weapons, servers, etc on EA/DICE's part. If you have ever read anything about the gaming industry you would know it's not just sitting around play testing. The people spend a tremendous amount of time developing these games.

Granted, the purpose of creating the game is for profit, but so is any other form of mainstream entertainment.

Again, we should be focusing on the people who currently play the game that ruin our experience, not the companies that work hard to create a good experience.

Re: Battlefield 2 v1.4 Patch Released

People that complain about blowing $6,000 on a system to play bf2... well, they should be shot anyways. You got suckered in the hardware industry as well as software. If you want a 'top of the line' computer, that's your deal, don't blame EA/DICE for that. Cause you certainly don't need a $6,000 computer setup to run bf2.

And again my complaint wasn't with lack of support and lack of new content for free. I'd rather give them money for maps, vehicles, armies and whatnot.
My complaint is that the game I paid $50 for is now almost undesirable and far more unstable then during it's release. The man hours spent on were wasted on crap like a free map, thanks... but i'd rather just have you fix true issues (ie. bugs / exploits - and by exploits, i don't mean bunny hopping).

When they could have spent more hours resolving issues that could be warranted as thing needed to be fixed for free, be it buggy software, they didn't. Intead we waited months and months and months just for the performance and enjoyability of the game to be destroyed.

if you are truely unintelligent enough to choose a different spawn point rather than being continuous raped with a chopper than this game is not for you. This is an FPS that revolves around strategy, and keeping you from getting out of your main base (which has the most assets - most desirable target) or delaying said departure with assets such as tanks IS A STRATEGY. If these are things you couldn't deal with then you need to stick to crap like wack-a-mole or other various entertainment means that don't require any kind of skill level. All those mentioned above have been nerfed/outlawed by servers and in such have technically stat padded for that reason. Putting a cieling or cap on one's effectiveness on the battlefield to ensure that your performance level can not be altered is technically stat padding and you are punishing the people that are using effective tactics as opposed to an exploit. A tank in your main? OMG! yes, you can defend against that...stop just staring at the air strip waiting for a plane to spawn, pay more attention to your surroundings. This might be a pub but if you do your part, then the lack of skill and/or teamwork from othes might not be as damaging to your team as you might think.
Too many of the people on here and other forums whine too much about the WRONG issues, like those stated above instead of pushing EA/DICE towards the real issues like CTD & Blue/Red tag.
Once again... the general idea of this game has been totally screwed. Thank you for those that tried to keep it fun.

they fixed shooting of the tank it always shot a little to right (i thought it was just me but i guess it really wasnt) now it shoots directly at the dot which is nice =D

Because the new 'improved and released' 1.4 Patch is the beta. All they did was remove the 'beta 2' overlay, other than that its the freaking same exe. Check the file size. The other posts were right, EA is pretty much discontinueing support for BF2.

No but really, EA has to be cutting corners left and right. Thats the only way I can see this being the dissapointment is has became. How can you go from having something pretty solid to this. Hense 1.0 to 1.4, Battle Field 1942 was just around completed ran beutiful, although did have bugs but was a heck of alot more stable. I don't think they have given up BF2. But they need to stop adding and start fixing.

Tried the refresh rate suggestion. That didn't do a thing.

1.4 is now installed and working fine. Spent a couple of hours on Jalalabad last nite without a hiccup!

On Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat servers the bunny hopping is controlled by booting the hoppers. Works pretty well.

I tried the incremental then full install on top as a last chance go at fixing before i set the BF2 disk alight.....and now my game works

I agree with almost everything you say except spawn killing. I dont see how someone in a prone position right behind a spawn point making kill after kill before the spawner can even move is a normal tactic or strategy?? Tactic and strategy have to deal with skill it doesnt take skill to spawn kill. Its frustrating also and takes the fun out of the game.
