I think EA North America could do a better job informing the public as to what's going on with their software we all purchased. There is no formal mention of the new 1.4 patch, nor why it was delayed on their EA.com site.

Im really annoyed to be honest. All those of you who are patting EA on the back saying good call for delaying 24hrs after discovering a last minute bug... well you all need to ask yourself the same questions...


IF this patch was beta tested properly why did they discover a SHOWSTOPPER class bug right at the last second.... [it wasnt beta tested very well - doesnt bode well for when it gets released proper]

First of all we have the patch announcement from SPAIN, then a note from the NETHERLANDS that the patch will be delayed only 24hrs.... Erm... is there no central EA GAMES which coordinates these patches. Ah yes - that would be EA. Cananda who develop them... so why are random sites making announcements ? [they are unorganised and the bug fix just announced will be poorly tested as well as they have a self imposed 24hr deadline now. Why is EA.nl making announcements about EA.Canada's team ?]

They KNEW 1.3 would make the game unplayable, and yet they left it out in the public for soooo long, rather than pulling it. Why would they do this ? [nobody in their right mind can have a good answer as to justify their incompetence on this one. We all know that patch should have been pulled. - I have zero confidence that if 1.4patch is bad, they would have the balls to recall it as well.]


Lets face it - EA/DICE have screwed up EVERY SINGLE patch so far. Take them at their word (totally worthless) before getting hyped up about this patch.

Its like they dont have an agreed scope of test conditions that must all pass before their product is released. It wouldnt suprise me if their sole testing were the beta players, which means lots of bugs will be just waiting to be discovered that were never envisaged by the pool of beta players.

Its the opposite of the Frosties Advert on TV.... Its gonna be crap.... Its gonna be crap !!!!!

I actaully hope that Im wrong on this one, but sadly the cards are not falling in EA's favour.

1.Because they have made changes after Beta 2 we have not tested.

Very scary we will probably be worse off than we are now. I mean just look at Dice Canada's track record with patches.


2.They are the gang that cant shoot straight it's incompetence plain and simple last minute bug my arse!


3.They gave us 1.3 to sell us AF The DICE of old is DEAD R.I.P!!!!!!

Well this is good and bad, good that they are fixing problems and admitting to old ones and bad that I have to wait to f*** that f***ing piece of s*** patch 1. f***ing 3. I am confident that it will not be a lemon like that f***ing peice of s*** we got last time. If it is a lemon we as gamers must attack EA/DICE for a hotfix, like we needed with 1.3. Now I am really happy that they are giving us a new map but I still would have rather have made a fix of 1.3 a week or so after 1.3's luanch (which is the worst day in Battlefield history).

Well it appears that some last minute bugs have arisen in the latest Battlefield 2 patch and it is going to be delayed. Here's what they had to say:

Due to some last minute changes the release of the 1.4 patch has been delayed.

We do not anticipate this delay being a lengthy one, however we do not have a fixed date for release at this time.

We will update you as soon as there is further information.

Apologies to those who were expecting the patch today, however in order for this patch to succeed in the way it is intended a little extra time is being taken to ensure it is right.

We understand that this is going to cause a significant amount of aggravation, however it is worth ensuring that the patch actually resolves as many issues as possible. So some additional time is being taken to ensure that this is the case.

This last thing we want is a repeat of the 1.3 patch.

It has also been reported over at Battlefield2.nl that the patch will only be delayed for 24 hours. Here's what they had to say:

Although the patch was announced to be released today (by EA Spain), it seems a small bug has been found and needs to be fixed before patch release. The release of patch 1.4 has been postponed 24 hours in order to allow more testing and the fix of this small bug.

That's the news for now. If we learn anymore about this delay we will certainly let you guys know. Better a fixed to perfection patch, than a buggy one being released.

They probably forgot to make a self installer for the official 1.4

What has me pi$$ed off the most is that they have known what was causing the CTD issue shortly after the 1.3 patch came out but instead of fixing it with a "hotfix" they basicly told everyone to go screw themselves and that they will just have to live with a game that may or may not crash on them at any givin time. I stopped playing BF2 for awhile because of this and was really looking forward to this new patch to fix that issue. I could care less about all the other crap but CTD is the biggest pain in the a$$ of all the bugs from 1.3 and now we have to still wait. If this isn't out by tomorrow then I may tell EA/Dice and all their products to go f themselves by not buying them anymore.

well, here's an idea for you... WTF didn't they just ROLL BACK THE PATCH instead of continuing forward with it? They rolled back the very first patch (or server patch), least we forget?

My buddy can't play the game right now. He CTD everytime he loads and he's done everything short of an entire OS reinstall.

I myself do not get very many ctd's but am tired of the damn servers crashing due to the 1.3.

as for the person who mentioned how can a bug be a show stopper is beyond me. at least release the fix so people can stop ctd's and server crashing

i mean come on has no one else been upset due to the server crashes ?

does 24 hours really matter... its nothing... besides, i think it will be worth it, i tested the beta2 version, and it seemed fine, there was no crashes to desktop or failing to connect errors or anything. lets just hope for the best...

They must patch the patch prior to releasing the patch that patches all pervious patches that did not patch errors that the patches were supposed to patch.
