Making a heightmap like the ones in 1942 by hand would be almost impossible except for Berlin perhaps. And considering Terragen or Worldmap are not perfectly accurate but rather give you random terrain in the basic shape you want it, I find it hard to believe it would all be so exact.
I also find it very hard to believe that you could have such great skill to make a map of that caliber yet don't even know how to run low detail settings for your textures. My bet is you simply found a nice tutorial and used that to make the port and then did a couple little tweaks by hand hoping you would not get caught.
Why don't you guys be more original instead of pushing a copy of something that was once great. Instead of making an El Alemien, why dont you make what it should have been..

He makes a good point. It's great you like the mod, but you have to remember that all mods have to abide by the guidlines given out by EA. I should have simply quoted your post and referred it towards you .

Repair pad in the middle looks like it's set too far to the right. Shown in red below on the original map:

Everyone relax, he is entitled to his opinion, as a matter of fact, that is probably one of the best compliments I have recieved on my work. If you cant tell mine from the original, then I am doing my job. Thanks DOC!!!!

    Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

I find this very funny. This map has been featured everywhere. Its in 1942, the Forgottne Hope mod (1942, maybe even the BF2 version??) Desert Combat, soon to be Desert Conflict, and Mr. Burns (Ger) made a version for vanilla BF2 !!

Because we want to, and because lots of people want to play variations of them. Its a simple equation, so theres no need to sigh.

Both with SP and MP support. Cool that you're making the old statics from '42 though.

Not to knock anyones work.. Cause they are both decent maps.. But compared to Clooneys work.. Clooney would win the contest hands down.. There are issues with both of those maps that I dont care for.. Alot has to do with distances between certain known areas of the maps.. Although they are great maps.. As I said.. they wouldnt make it past muster in our mapping dept.

But to each his own. Those maps were released to the community. This one.. you will only find in Desert Conflict.
