There are changes made to the core game itself that require the seperate folder, it couldn't be done as a mod.

I really broke a sweat dragging my bf2 folder and the dropping it, choosing copy here. I nearly didn’t have enough energy left to click on the beta 2 incremental install icon.

If you’re so lacking in HD space that you can’t maintain a second copy of your BF2 folder on your system then you’ll probably not be able to run the patch anyways, best to leave the beta testing to the “professionals”*


*people who are smart enough to make copies of folders

EA dont need more testers , they need an Exculsive version for Competition players.. competition players vs. pub nubs both sides want totally different games.. and no matter what EA will listen to the bigger majority , which is pub nubs.. Competition will be Killed out of BF2 once and for all in 1.4 release.. (unless mods come out , like BF2PRO)

I tested both beta's for approx. 4 Hours a peace, multiple maps, etc. I sent in a bug report to Dice/EA. What more can a player do? I am not interested in playing in Euro servers or in empty US servers (when one is actually running). I agree its a little to little, little to late.

I bought all the expansions, SF only works if I start SF I have to reboot everytime I turn off BF2 and then try to run it again later. Therefore if I try to join an SF server from BF2 I have to reboot = To much effort. I have EF and have never been abole to play it because of a typo in the original registration, EA has never given me a fix or answer, so that = 10$ out the door with nothing to show for it. I bought AF but couldnt register it to my main name (Name in use?????) Now I cant change the name because NAME IN USE???????!!!!!!!!! Of course its in use, I use it everyday. I have called EA, sent Emails to EA, begged for help and the reply?? "Thanx for the money, youll have to repurchase with the name you want to use" Ahhh yes but "THE NAME IS IN USE?????!!!!!"

As for bugs, I dont usually see any bugs, I have a pretty smooth install of the game and never had any CTD's. I do see rockets miss or go thru stuff, empty clips into noobs rolling around on the ground only to be killed by one bullet from them (While they are rolling no less), 6 missles from less than 100yrds behind another plane and they all miss?? Bombs that drop right on tanks yet dont destroy them? (Really I watched one of my bombs land directly on top of a tank and he just drove away laughing)

Maybe Ive just gotten used to the bugs and have adapted, I dunno. I dont see why EA would give a rats a** about this game anymore when they have their next big thing coming out in a few short months. Unless they are working on engine bugs that will effect 2142. Just release the damn patch with a CTD fix (for the multitude of players) and be done with it.

You know, it's just not that simple anymore. Sure a lot of us love the Battlefield series and loved Battlefield 2... but it's just not enough anymore.

How long has it been? Been over a year, and now, just NOW -- after they still can't do anything right -- they appeal to the community. And after a crappy expansion pack and two booster packs, one of which was crap, the other at least decent. But it's just not enough. I paid $50 over a year ago and I'm sick and tired of putting up with this, and sick and tired of putting up with EA.

It can be summarized as "too little too late".

Edit: And that's another thing, this whole shebang started AFTER the announcement of BF2142. EA/Dice have already moved on; and so have we.

Out of the 51 servers listed at that link, only 10 of them have players in them and only 5 of them have more than 20 players currently playing. To make sure that we get to beta test future patches, we must first concentrate on this one. Do your part and EA/DICE will do theirs!

We finally have been given the chance to have HUGE say in a patch, lets not let this opportunity pass us by!

Are you serious??...Let me get this rite, EA/DICE is complaining to us that not enough are on the beta servers reporting bugs???... You want us to beta test this patch and report more bugs to EA/DICE when all the bugs we've reported BEFORE the beta came out still are NOT fixed?

WHY SHOULD WE BOTHER REPORTING MORE BUGS WHEN WE'VE TRYED COUNTLESS TIMES BEFORE BUT THEY NEVER WERE FIXED.

Make them ranked and Im sure the people will play, until then doubt if many will play. The stats have changed alot in bf, for the better or worse im unsure.

Well guess what? Those images and facts have been around for months now and there has been no acknowledgement or fix from DICE in any patch or Beta. I've seen many complaining about J10 v F35 issue for so long now on many forums. And what do we get? No, not a fix. No of course not. We get some stupid Infantry only mode instead of gameplay and bug fixes.

Why arent there more testing it?

1. Its not Ranked

2. We didnt buy this game for Infantry Only crap, we want to play BATTLEFIELD

3. We have complained about everything that needs to be fixed/looked at already for months

4. Its not a new game like BF2142 is gonna be, so no rush to play a beta

EA you have no one to blame but yourself. It has been over a year since the release of BF2 and you have done nothing to unify the community. In fact all you have done is divide the community further.

Your marketing ploy of milking every dollar from the community is a prime example. Instead of fixing the major bugs of the game you have spent your time developing 3 mods to sell. SF, AF, and EF while making some money have completely split the community into 3 distinct camps; and with the release of 2142 you will again divide the community.

Now that you have sucked all the money from the fan boys and diehards you have decided to try to finish the initial game. Too little to late. I AM NOT A BETA TESTER!! IT IS NOT MY JOB!! This game should have been tested and re-tested before it was released. Instead you rushed it out the door so that the executive could have a fat Christmas bonus.

For ever step forward, this game has taken two steps backward. In the case of some people the game has become unplayable. In the case of others they have simple stopped playing. Others are waiting for mods; while others have simply moved on never to return.

It’s a shame to see the BF series in this state of decline. Make no mistake about it, despite the fact there are many servers still populate this game is in decline. The simple reasons for this are that the fan boys and diehards still buy into your stats system; many people are waiting for other games to be released and are just passing the time; still others are hoping despite the odds that BF will return to its former glory.

But just like any other company driven by profits you have simply forgot what made you and your product a success. The fans! You have neglected those who have supported you and your products.

Make no mistake I am not a hater. I love BF1942 and BFV, they will go down as some of the greatest FPS games in history. But like many other BF2 players I have become disillusioned with the game. I have given up playing and I hold out little hope that this game will ever be fixed.
