He's right... call Microsoft and they will get you fixed with new license code. The PCI saturated idea someone posted is an okay guess but that isn't your issue. Having pagfile on different HD won't fix it either. What about the billion other installs with one HD running much dumpier systems than yours and they run just fine? It isn't the pagefile location. Don't waste your time.

I knew PSU, RAM (and pro chip for that matter) wouldn't do you any good. I'm with you, I am leaning closer to a software issue but not 100% yet. That SLI mobo still bothers me. It may be an SLI design flaw or it could be something else unrelated on that mobo with a design issue. You are running SATA drives? What about taking them out and installing OS on a plain IDE HD?

Good call. There are a LOT of people out there with SLI headaches, for various reasons, and you could be one of them. That and RAID are in my mind the two main suspects. Outside of those two I really don't see too much left over that could be the cause of it, given that you've basically replaced everything and done a clean install.

Just to confirm, have you ever had BF2 playing well in your house using your current internet connection/provider? Despite what you have done between your machine and the modem, there is a ton of stuff that go wrong between you and the main trunk that would not show up in less demanding activity like simple web browsing.

Re: $$100$$ to fix my bf2 stutter

I was having some stutter and other problems. I took an unused 80g HD and did a minimal install of XP, network software, BF2 and new patch. It fixed it so much that I can increase my BF2 video (6600 card) settings from low to med on 32/64 maps. In single I can almost max out. I was also having IRQ conflict with DMA sharing too. Fixed that with disabling/uninstalling hardware until it got the right settings I wanted because my bios wouldn't let me choose. Now I just choose the HD I want from bios during bootup.

That was a good idea you had. How did you resolve the IRQ / DMA issues? What hardware was causing the issues?

i have not swapped out the processor yet....lol....

I am currently running non-SLI....(one 7900gtx/ single card selector on MB) and IDE hard drive.......no raid 0.

Thanks about the phone call to M$...I'll do it when I need to reinstall again I guess.....I must say that I did have a heck of a time loading thrid party raid drivers on RAID 0 reinstall.....

crossing my fingers that another good flight sim comes out soon.

This may have been fixed or is old, but if it's still a problem I hope this helps!

                  Open the folder:

                  c:\program files\ea games\battlefield 2\mods\bf2\settings

open the file videodefault.con in notepad

                  find the line: renderer.allowallrefreshrates 0

change the 0 to 1 and save.

Start BF2 and hopefully it helps.

(Disclaimer! I am at work so the directory and line entry in the file may be a few characters off, but it's pretty easy to find with that info.)

Let me know if it doesn't work

I believe bf2 is having issues with SLI after the patch or something, have you installed the setpoint driver for your mx518? i had this mouse b4 i got the G5 and it worked perfect in bf2 but i had the setpoint installed? With 2 gig of ram you shouldnt need to shutdown background programmes apart from virus checkers/securities.

Re: $$100$$ to fix my bf2 stutter

Im in the same boat as the thread starter, everything ive tried just wont get rid of the stutter (Except for putting the game on "Low" settings, but it looks pants and im sure my system can handle Medium). My specs are :

                      Windows XP SP2
                      AMD Sempron 3000+ (2.0 Ghz)
                      1Gb DDR Ram
                      GeForce 6600GT 128Mb DDR3
                      PCI Sound Card

Frame rate wise, the games just peachy at Medium, but its the god damned stutter that absolutely ruins it. For example i go to the middle flag on Daqing Oilfields and spin around and its stutter stutter stutter. Ive tried updating next to every single thing on my PC, fiddling with BIOS etc and nothing changes a single thing, it really makes me friggin hate PC's :/ The game does run smoothly on Low settings but jeezus christ it looks like crap and my PC can take better. Heck if someone could fix it, without lowering the settings, id even chuck in some cash there way. I feel for Bounce

Edit : Heres a video of the stutter aswell, using FRAPS. It exaggerates it abit (by about half a second each stutter), but u get the idea.

BTW, it happens in both single player and multiplayer.

I have a similar setup as yours AMD 64 3200+ and ge force 6800 128.
I had 1 gig of ram and went to 2, that fixed stutter in the game for me.

And this ONLY happens in BF2?

                          First of all...update punkbuster:

Either run this app from anywhere and follow the directions:
                          PBSETUP.EXE

Or copy this file to your pb subdirectory in your BF2 install dir and run it:
                          PBWEB.EXE

                          Then, if that doesn't work:
                          • update to the latest drivers for your monitor HERE
                          • delete your BF2 settings (delete contents of ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2)
                          • start up BF2

Re: $$100$$ to fix my bf2 stutter

                            This is usually caused by:

A: Running a Geforce 6 Series card with an nForce motherboard. Maybe 7 series too, but I don't have experience with those.

                            B: Faulty or underpowered PSU.

                            C. Faulty GPU.

I had massive stutter on BF 2 and Joint OPs on my GeForce 6800 Ultra running on an nVidia mobo. Eventually it just stopped. It could have been a driver or bios update. It was still there every once in a while until I upgraded to a good PSU.

okay faulty or underpowered PSU would either TOTTALy downclock it, or not do much at all until it died.

faulty GPU would artifact, or not work at all, it wouldnt "sutter" and give low fps.

and lastly, the 6 series card is MEANT TO BE USED on the nforce chipset. I dont know where in gods name you heard that. and if you are coming to this conclusion based on the use of your 6800, you cant base ALL OF THOSE statements you just made off of one friggin bad experience with one card.
