The fact is that the ping indicator reads higher pings, I am talking about the in-game browser. In ASE, the ping reads differently. But strangely enough, I can join and play the game with ever smooth frame rates. My rig is legacy according to today's standards, Athlon XP 2200+ and GeForce 5900XT with merely 768MB RAM. It has been smooth all the way from BF2 vanilla version up til this latest patch 1.22.

I just don't know why people are complaining!

I can't believe that someone said that your high ping would cause others to have a high ping also. Seriously. That would imply that because you have a laggy connection, that you are flooding the server with more information than normal.

Or is there some other theory about this that I am missing?

This was the thought of my back when I used to play MOHAA about 4 years ago. I thought if someone had a high ping it lagged the server, basically I thought this because the idea I had in my head was if everyone has a low ping than the server will hot be clutter with people that are running slow. And it seems like sometimes that is the case. I know it doesn't make much sense but when me and a couple other friends were just hanging on a server it seemed like it would run better than when this guy with a 1023 ping joined, and this was in BF2....? Its a bunch of networking junk im not gona go into. Maybe if Troybob (Member of these forms) sees this post he can better explain things since we works for Cisco Systems. :laugh:


As for BF2 1.22 lagging it seems like it was slow a bit for the first couple days it was out but has speed up since than. And thanks whoever mentioned about the new PB Manual Update Software out I was still using the old PBWeb.exe file, this new one is WAY better.

must say, now I dont have this problem anymore , only saw irt once on a server, and only affecting 2 people on that server .

With screens to proof how bugged the ping rate got .

Don't ask me why but on several of my favorite servers where I use to get ping of 30 to 50 , now ping is 100-300 , with the disaster I get kicked from them due to high ping .

I am starting to get mad here, WTF , can't they not just bring one patch out without adding extra and severe bugs

and the strange thing is, in the gamebrowser the ping is only 45 or something, when entering the game, ping rises to extreme hights, and ingame I didn't seem to have any lag, but just can't play because the numbers are there.

see screen, first screen shows extreme high ping, then on the second screen it suddenly drops to 0 .









OK, updated PB , and here is the result , also the admin of the server already reset the server and set the max ping way higher, still got kicked after some time, everybody was complaining about it , I have the same problem on a bunch of other servers , also on those servers lots of complaining , and it certainly isn't a true ping , I don't have lag .

Rombaft stop pretending you've found bugs, like saying the major general rank is bugged, when obviously you have to get vehicle badges and be brigadier general first

And this is definitely a problem with this specific server

I'm gonna guess that it probably affects certain server machines in that they are not configured properly when they up'd to v1.22 or that there was an 'internet anomaly' or a bad router somewhere.

pal, read the post, you will notice I had this problem on a lot of servers , this for starting, and second , about the rank bugs , well, I mailed this to a DICE guy , hereplied to look into it, replyd back about some meeting about it, and now yesterday he replied they made somme changes to it who will be in the next patch .

I don't sell bullshi t , it's your reply who is totaly not needed and asked for

He is missing Expert Armour, Expert Aviator and Expert Helicopter. So he cannot get brigadier general.

One requirement for Major General, being a higher rank than brigadier general is to be brigadier general BEFORE you can reach major general.

I had this problem on the last patch, my ping suddenly shot up on any server i usually play on and eventually i jus stopped playing, then about 2 weeks later i tried again and everything was fine - ping below 50 on my fav servers.

Now this patch has come out im over 150 ping and cant play whatsoever again, i downloaded that PB thing someone suggested and it updated my bf2 and i loaded it up again but still my ping is over 150.... grrr. looks like ill jus have to wait a week or so again...?

Same thing going on here -- high ping after 1.22 Patch installed. I updated Punk Buster--auto update and manual update--but still have crazy high pings. (I even went into my Usersettings.con and made sure the switch "1" was in its place.) Additionally, I've checked with my ISP and no trouble on my cable line.

Any other ideas?
