The 1023 ping seems to be server related, not client. It's almost as if it's not picking up their true ping because of something being "stuck"...possibly even the PB updating.
I've had issues with PB not updating on games before, COD was plagued with this problem and it would eventually fix itself.

Check for "conime.exe" in your task manager see if this process is running while you are slow. Kill it if you see it.Comment

Yea...i live in SG so internode is the server for us because its ping is only 70-95 but after some patch it went to 250+ now!!!! wth now i have like only 2-3 server with 80-100 ping and internode have a lot of servers for us to play. This is ridiculous, DICE should really fix this problem very very soon and i have updated my PunkBuster all that stuffs already...Comment

no problems here...I did a manual PB update and everything is running as smooth as silk...pings consistently around 40 or so for my fav servers just like alwaysComment

I can't believe that someone said that your high ping would cause others to have a high ping also. Seriously. That would imply that because you have a laggy connection, that you are flooding the server with more information than normal.

Then it's not just me. I, too, have noticed an increase in high pings since the patch. Every server I join, my ping used to be from around 50 - 60, to now 90 - 200. Ridiculous.Comment

I put my crash experience down to patch night woes, all seems well again although for me its not as smooth online as it was. pings of 20-30 are now 30-40
It had nothing to do with PUNKbuster as it was already up to date.Comment

Ya know... after reading this thread, I was very worried about my preformance. I'm perty damned tight on computer resources and any more hits would cause me a world of grief.
Thus, I was plesently suprised last night when I fired up the game and found it running better/smoother than it has for a loooong time.
Not sure if it's got anything to do with the patch, or if it's 'cause I was doing some general machine tweaks. Either way, I definatly did NOT have any problems with higher ping.Comment

Must be time for some house keeping then, been putting it off for a while.
I'm pretty tight myself when it comes to my rig and resouces, although at the moment I've enough to spare so dont have to rely on a fresh windows install + bf2 only
