BF 2142 ... Mark My Words

Battlefield 2142 will , mark my words, be the down fall of EA ... For the last couple years, EA has produced AMAZING games that everyone loved such as 1942, Vietnam, BF2, then the overpriced but still cool SF and Euroforce. EA is very good at games like this. Realistic (sorta ) games where teamplay and and strategy are key. But this is where EA will fall. EA has always had some basis on real life, such as the guns and armies. They could read up about the L96A1 and say "Very accurate, lets add it as one of our upgrades, " or "Artillery, hmmm, pain in the ass in real life ... lets add it :p " ... There has always been something for EA to look at and adjust it to fit there game and how people play it. When a company tries to go from that, straight into making a futuristic game, with no basis to real life what so ever ... I am sure there will be awful problems. I am an avid gamer and an even stronger BF2 fanboy but ... IM worried about this next one. If in the end, EA pulls through and makes one of the best damn game we have ever seen from them ... then you all can think "Haha ... remember the stupid punk who said this game would suck" . But I simply wanna get my opinion out there. I believe this game will fall through the floor faster than it hits the shelves . Anyone want to agree or disagree with me, plz feel free to proove your point.

I think it's too early to say, but in my honest opinion I think it's way to early for a new game...with it's release will split the bf2 community as a portion of players change over. With a release a new game, why bother supporting the bf2 community when you have the new bf2142 community to worry about.

*shrugs* we'll just see...chances are I won't care since bf2 is starting to bore me and has been for a while.

Agreed. It is waaaay too early for another full game. Besides, I'm starting to get a little tired of BF games, and instead of BF2142, I may just get Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Downfall of EA??? WTF are you smoking? You realize EA does more than just the BF games don't you? Ever hear of the Madden franchise? Need for Speed? Their other sports titles? You think all those sucessfull franchises will fail just because BF 2142 will be awful?

The game will still sell like crazy, because EA has great marketing. But many of the competitive gamers, including myself, will be playing Quakewars instead of 2142.

Id Software actually listens to the requests of GOOD players, and they won't turn their game into one big noob orgy like EA will.

I think it will do well because the game looks like it will be fun. I had never played online games before BF2, I hated FPS never played them much. Now after 600 hr online I cant get enough. When the game gets boring I just switch kits or fly depending on the map. I am looking forward to the Quakewars game to see if is as good as the clips, we shall see.

Every body who says the sci-fi idea behind B2142 is stupid better get used to it.

This is the direction a lot of FPS games are going to go the modern warfare genre has been done to death same as the WW2 genre as well.

Games like QW:ET and BF2142 will be setting a benchmark for other large scale sci-fi/futuristic games to follow

Although i do agree that is a bit too early to release another game but i am eagerly anticipating this game looks like it could bee good fun

OMG Shut up... EA have only released a promo of it and ur already condeming it, i for one think its a pretty cool idea the only thing u can Mark My Words about is the nerf of the stealth suit

I did not mean EA would go bankrupt .... they have raped enuf money to quit making all genres of games right now and still live happy for the rest of their lives .... What I was trying to get across is that the series of battlefield will no longer hold its title of greatness and gamers such as myself wont be looking for the next addition to it.

Go suck a noob tube ... Ppl like you tend to force their opinion on others ... I have done know such thing. Ive simply stated that i have a bad feeling about EA's attempt at a futuristic FPS online game ... I believe this conversion is doomed to failure for EA. Tell me you dont agree. Tell me I have no facts to support this ... but dont think you can tell me to shut up. Ive seen games like this fall many times over and I believe this will be no different. Also, I have not called out any specific point in the game to be its undoing because like someone said ... its too early to tell what it will be ... All I can say is the attempt at a Futuristic twist in general has seen failure before and will do so again

i think bf2142 will be a lot more flexible. cloackers, floating mines etc.
should be a lot more to do and different styles to fight, as long as theres no overpowering tactic.

And the futuristic theme hasn't been done to death? Not trying to flame ya, but I think pretty much ANYTHING has been done to death. Unless we get an FPS where we're in medeival times and shoot bows and arrow. Battlefield 1442, now that'd be a more pioneering game. (although I think a few have been done, definately not many)

I just dont get the negativity GC for 1942 for Ex. blasters, imperial walkers, lethal injections, speeder bikes & they made it work. This post is pointless.

i will be playing Forgotten Hope 2. i am ot getting any more battlefield games. i stoped wasting my money after sf.
