I'll read reviews and play a demo, then make my decision. But right now, probobly not.

It's gonna be running on the same engine as BF2, so we can expect all the same problems. The fact that it is running on the same engine AND coming out so soon after the release of BF2, strongly indicates that EA want a piece of the sci-fi shooter scene - to compete with Quake Wars, when BF2 could use a bit of TLC...

At the moment Quake Wars has my money - I enjoy BF2, and won't just quit it - it will have a better engine and greater tactical depth, with objective based play (objective A must be accomplished before objective B can be tackled etc). I daresay QW will be a far more polished product than BF2142.

I will definitley be purchasing Battlefield 2142, however I do think that it's way too rushed. Let BF2 have another 6 months more at the very least.
Knowing EA it will be delayed (hopefully) as usual.

As for BF 2142 copying Quake Wars? Do a little research and you'll find that QW is based entirely off of the BF series

folks remember not all games build there own engines, there ais a huge amount of games using someone elses engine. If your not puchasing BF2142 solely on the fact that its on the BF2 engine than your a very ignorant and stupid person.

my decision has nothing to do with EA or DICE. I wont be buying it because I dont find the idea interesting in the least. I enjoyed Mechwarrior and games like Starcraft - but it's been done, and what I like about BF2 is it's closeness to realism. I didnt buy BF2 for an arcade FPS.

At this point it is a fair enough assumption to make that if BF2142 is based on the BF2 engine, it would have the same problems and bugs as BF2. It doesn't make me ignorant or stupid. If there is any information to prove me wrong, then I will not be ashamed to admit it.

At the mo, it looks like a mod, and not a new game.

If it's based on the BF2 engine (which it is) and it's coming out in Fall, then from now to Fall they have that much time to iron out the bugs and whatnot.

Well... once it comes out it will cost like $40 when the mods will come out and will be so much better and they'll be free, they might even be more fun then bf2142. And how would you like to play every single game that you play on the same engine? well, thats what ea is doing.

I have no doubt in my mind there will be mods that will be more fun. But if you're sooooooo sick of the BF2 engine, why not try out a different game instead of whining about how they should have made a new one? They only have like 3 "games" on the BF2 engine. BF2, Special Forces, Euro Forces and the soon to be Armored Fury & BF2142 (Which is being polished a little more). The BF2 engine is beautiful, it just needs optimization.
